Greenville County Schools is planning for all students to participate in eLearning on Friday, April 16. Confirmation of this date will be made by Tuesday, April 13. This date is tentative because it hinges on our ability to secure enough vaccine for our employees. As soon as it’s confirmed, we will let parents know. In the meantime, please make childcare arrangements for Friday, April 16.

GCS expects to accommodate ALL employees who signed up to get the shot. We do not believe another eLearning day will be necessary after the 16th. Teachers will continue to provide lessons on the day they are receiving their second dose. Assignments will be posted during the time they are away from work to get the vaccine.

******Important information regarding upcoming eLearning days******

GCS announces eLearning dates for employee vaccine clinics:
All GCS students will participate in eLearning on Thursday, March 18 and tentatively on Monday, March 22 as the District rolls out its first COVID-19 vaccine clinics for employees. Parents are encouraged to begin the process of arranging childcare for those two days. GCS will confirm the clinic set for Monday, March 22 once we know the availability of the vaccine. We will try to give parents, as well as students, as much advance notice as possible.

Friday, March 19 is a teacher Professional Development day and a student holiday. It cannot be used as a vaccine clinic day.

Teachers will continue to provide lessons on eLearning days. Assignments will be posted during the time teachers are away from work to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Important Information for Parents - In the next few weeks, Greenville County Schools will host employee vaccination clinics and will need to close our school buildings to students. Students will participate in eLearning on those days. Because the vaccine supply is inconsistent, we do not currently know the dates for these clinics. It is important that you talk to your family members, neighbors, or other caregivers now to prepare for childcare on eLearning days. We will give you as much advance notice as possible, but there may only be a day or two between the time our provider receives the vaccine and we launch our clinics. Depending on which vaccine we receive, we may need to repeat this process a few weeks later. We want to ask parents to prepare now for expected eLearning Days over the next several weeks. Thank you for your support as our employees roll up their sleeves to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Yesterday, each of our classrooms had video calls from one of the amazing members of Rotary Club of Greenville. During these calls, the Rotarian read to the students a book that will be donated to their classrooms as part of Read Across America week! It is wonderful to see our community partners show up for our Eagles virtually!

The Department of Social Services and the South Carolina Department of Education are working to provide Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits to qualifying children across South Carolina. All households with potentially eligible students are strongly encouraged to validate their address in the DSS P-EBT Address Portal on or before March 19, 2021. The P-EBT Address Portal is located at https://benefitsportal.dss.sc.gov/ #/pebt/addressverification. To locate your child in the Address Portal, you must have: Student Last Name, Date of Birth, Student ID, School District, and School Name. Our 4th grade students are soaring high. Today they did an amazing job researching and presenting information about famous African Americans. Each group created slides, included interesting facts, and presented the information to the class. A huge thanks to Public Education Partners (PEP) for suppling books to our students for this project. Way to go EAGLES!
