A Young Husband And Father Of Three Left For Work Today Never Knowing His Family's World Would Change Forever

Kentucky State Trooper Hayden Phillips was just 27 years old when his life was tragically cut short after being shot on I-65 in Warren County, Kentucky. A Blue Alert was quickly issued as the suspect fled the scene, sparking an urgent search across the region.

Not long afterward, authorities took the suspect into custody in Louisville. But for Trooper Phillips’ wife and three children, nothing can undo the heartbreaking reality they now face. What began as an ordinary day ended with the kind of devastating news every law enforcement family fears and hopes never arrives. Tonight, many are keeping this young family in their thoughts as they begin the difficult journey through unimaginable loss.

Please take a moment to send your condolences, prayers, or support for this family, and share this post to honor Trooper Phillips’ memory.

KSP Henderson Post names new commander

The Kentucky State Police Henderson Post has a new commander.

Capt. Brian Duvall has assumed command of Post 16 in Henderson, effective as of Sept. 16.

In this role, Duvall will oversee all post operations and personnel serving the six-county region of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, and Union.

“I am honored to take on the role of Post Commander at Post 16,” said Capt. Duvall. “I look forward to working alongside the dedicated troopers and local law enforcement in this region to continue our mission of serving and protecting the citizens of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, and Union counties.”

A dedicated public servant with 24 years of experience within the agency, Duvall brings a wealth of leadership and operational expertise to the Henderson post. He is a 2002 graduate of the KSP Academy and began his distinguished career assigned to Post 1 in Mayfield.

Throughout his tenure, Captain Duvall has served in various leadership capacities across the Commonwealth. He was promoted to sergeant in 2014, serving at both the Madisonville and Mayfield posts, before advancing to the rank of lieutenant in 2017.

As a lieutenant, he served at the Mayfield, Madisonville, and Bowling Green posts. Additionally, he served as the Assistant Academy Commander at the KSP Academy in Frankfort, where he played a pivotal role in the training of new KSP cadets and the annual in-service training for troopers.

In 2025, he was promoted to captain and assigned to the Security Branch in Frankfort. In that capacity, he oversaw troopers and officers responsible for the security of more than 14 locations, including the State Capitol, the Secretary of State’s office, the Attorney General’s office, the Supreme Court Justices’ offices, and the offices and staff of state legislators.
