As we get ready to close out another school year, Beck Academy would like to recognize Mrs. Green and the tremendous impact she has had on our school. After serving Greenville County Schools for 28 years, she is officially retired!

Mrs. Green has always had the rare ability to balance high expectations with genuine compassion. As an assistant principal, she has been both a steady disciplinarian and a caring supporter, always leading with fairness, patience, and heart. She believes deeply in students, cheers them on through every success, and helps guide them through challenges with grace and understanding. Her impact on our school community will be lasting, and she will be greatly missed as she begins this well-deserved retirement.

Student Appreciation Day kept rolling with the perfect midday treat 🍧💙 Huge thanks to for helping us celebrate our students today! Nothing says “we appreciate you” quite like Italian ice on a school day. 😎

What a special day celebrating the people who make Beck such an incredible place to learn, grow, and belong. 💙

First, congratulations to our PTSA Staff of the Year, Dillon Smith! Mr. Smith’s dedication to Beck’s music program has created a space where students feel encouraged, inspired, and excited to learn. From early morning practices to helping the symphonic band earn a superior rating this year, his passion for music and his students is evident in all he does. Beck is incredibly thankful for the impact he has made on so many students through the years. 🎶👏

We also celebrated our PTSA Volunteer of the Year, Shelly Vaughn! In just one year at Beck, Shelly has jumped in with both feet — helping grow our Reflections program, co-chairing Hospitality & Sunshine, and making sure students, staff, and families all feel celebrated and connected. Her heart for serving others shines through in everything she does, and we are so grateful she found her home with the Beck PTSA family. ✨

Finally, we were honored to present the inaugural Katie Burns Excellence in Service Award to Angela Halpin and Anna McBee. This award was created in memory of former Beck PTSA President Katie Burns and recognizes outstanding dedication and service to Beck. For the past three years, Angela and Anna have led the Big Blue fundraising committee with commitment, creativity, and countless hours of hard work. Their leadership has helped Big Blue continue to grow and succeed year after year, and Beck is better because of them. 💙

Today was a full-circle kind of day at Beck as we gathered for our PTSA End-of-Year Luncheon! 💙⚔️

We were excited to welcome incoming principal Dr. Don Jones and celebrate the many people who help make Beck such a special place. Today we also announced our Teacher of the Year (formal announcement to come 👀).

We also had the opportunity to honor Mrs. Meisten for the countless ways she has poured into Beck over the years. Her impact will be felt for a long time to come.

One of the sweetest moments of the day was our 8th grade parents getting a surprise visit from their students before they head off to high school. 🥹

A huge thank you to Ms. Clark and Ms. Edwards for putting together such a wonderful lunch, and congratulations to our newly installed executive board! We’re also incredibly grateful for the leadership, dedication, and heart Cassady Groom has given to Beck PTSA over the past several years. Thank you for all you’ve done for our school community! 💙
