“A false balance is an abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is His delight.”
In plain English, God “detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with Him.” This principle includes dishonest practices that cannot be easily supervised, even those corrupt practices that have become the norm in society.
In his commentary, Matthew Henry reflects, “However men may make light of giving short weight or measure, and however common such crimes may be, they are an abomination to the Lord.”
Greed for money and possessions lures men and women to lie and deceive others in order to gain what is not lawfully theirs. No matter how large or small might be the gain, deceit and fraud are an abomination to the Lord.
“It is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and one who hurries his footsteps errs.”
In this proverb, Solomon maintains that, “It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.”
Two vices are here censured: lack of knowledge and neglect of knowledge. Zeal (desire, enthusiasm, passion) without knowledge is not enough. If you engage in a job ignorantly and rashly, you will miss the mark and fail in the performance of it.
AccuLingua Sends Help to Churches in the Biblical Cities of Aleppo and Damascus
Various Old Testament prophets, such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Micah wrote about the remnant of God’s people. Today, we can find a remnant of Bible-believing Christians in the ancient cities of Aleppo and Damascus, who continue “steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.””
Thanks to a tip from missionary to Spain Andy Bonikowsky, AccuLingua was able to join efforts with a church in Barcelona under the leadership of Rev. Josue Valcarcel, who organized a special mission to send help to victims of the recent major earthquake that affected Turkey and Syria.
Many of the dear Christians in Syria lost their homes and income. The offering sent to them is mainly used for shelter, food, and medicines. Please, join AccuLingua in praying for “the remnant of His heritage” (Micah 7:19).
