I’ve enjoyed our KYSO Fall conference. From a session on officer training, information of next year’s 90th Jubilee, to a funny session called “Wardrobe Malfunctions” comparing members’ traits to types of underwear, it has been great to get to know other sisters from across the state and learn from each other. I have much to share when we have our next meeting!
We had a wonderful lunch with a creative favor to take home. We need to plan on attending the Jubilee celebration next spring!

Today the Executive Committee of Alpha Iota Chapter met at Sip&Spin to plan our meetings for the 26-27 school year. We accomplished a great deal and still managed to have a wonderful time of fellowship.
President Pennye Rogers led a devotional about empowering ourselves to empower others! Members in attendance also included past president Pat Petrie; secretary Kay Turner; treasurer Pam Millay; parliamentarian Betty Thomas; 1st Vice President Veronica McGhee; and 2nd Vice President Mary Ann Payton. Thank you to these dedicated ladies!

Mark your calendars for these tentative meeting dates:

September 17, 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Spring Ridge one room school house—Paradise Park

December 12, 2026 at 9:00 am at the home of Betty Thomas

February 11, 2027 (TBA) 5:00 pm at the Central City Library

April 24, 2027 9:00 at Hobby’s

Today Alpha Iota President Pennye Rogers and secretary Kay Turner visited long-time member Lois Slinker. Lois, age 97, was presented with her 50-year membership pin!
We had a wonderful visit and are happy to report that Lois is doing very well. Congratulations, Lois, for your long-term dedication to teachers and education.

Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met today at Sip&Spin for a Ladies’ Tea. It was fun to dress up and wear fancy hats! Anna Marie Cosby gave a touching devotional to begin the meeting. Outgoing President Pat Petrie presented several awards to members for their dedication to the chapter, profession, and community. First Vice President Pennye Rogers presented a sunflower pin to Pat Petrie for her loyalty and dedication to our chapter. New officers were sworn in; Pennye Rogers was installed as the President for the 2026-2028 term. The new 1st Vice will be Mary Ann Payton who was not able to attend today. She will be officially installed at the next meeting. Other officers include 2nd Vice President Veronica McGhee; treasurer Pam Millay; Parliamentarian Betty Thomas; and Secretary Kay Turner. Kay Turner presented a cross that we might include for deceased members going forward to be included with flowers. Pat Petrie presented all ladies present with a rose pin and jewelry bag as a token of appreciation. We ended the meeting by singing our Delta Kappa Gamma song. A great time was had by all! Thanks to Jenny at Sip & Spin for the wonderful venue for our meeting.
