Do you want to give your children an education for real life but don't know where to start?

Our philosophy is simple:

1. Read great literature together.
2. Talk about it. Consider it. Apply it.
3. Bring it into real life—build, create, explore, serve.

The result? Learning that sticks. Children who think deeply, make meaningful connections and use what they know beyond the lesson.

This is the kind of education Portals was created for. Our Christ-centered lesson plans help families read, think, and do together, so you can give your children an education that prepares them for real life.

Eternity in Their Hearts by Don Richardson

Booklist: Leaders (High School)

Why it's on our list:
This fascinating look at cultures around the world explores how God has placed glimpses of truth and a longing for Himself across time and place. Through remarkable stories of people groups and missionaries, students are invited to consider God’s sovereignty, the ways He has prepared hearts to hear the Gospel, and the biblical call to share Christ with the nations.

Themes we love: Missions • Revelation • Culture • Evangelism

Why we love family-style learning. 🤍

Rather than needing an entirely separate curriculum for every child, Portals brings siblings together for subjects like that naturally lend themselves to family learning. For courses like Bible, history and science, students are grouped into age-based learning levels, allowing siblings close in age to share books, lessons, discussions, and projects. While, skill-based subjects, like math and learning to read, still meet each child right where they are.

There is so much to LOVE about taking this approach in your homeschool. Family-style learning...

• Builds strong family bonds. Siblings share books, ideas, projects, and conversations as they learn alongside one another.

• Makes homeschooling simpler. Fewer separate lessons means less prepping and juggling for mom and more time actually learning together.

• Encourages kids to learn from each other. They hear different perspectives, talk through ideas, and encourage one another along the way.

• Cultivates a shared family culture. Instead of everyone working through school alone, learning becomes something shared and memorable.

The benefits could continue but we think those are reason enough to consider Portals for your family's homeschool journey this year! :)

We recently had the privilege of sharing the vision behind Portals at this month's Amplify Mission Network Session (), alongside so many incredible business and nonprofit leaders who are passionate about making a difference in our communities.

One of our favorite parts of the evening wasn't just presenting—it was connecting with people who generously shared their ideas, experience, and encouragement to help strengthen our mission. It's a reminder that we're not building Portals alone. So many people believe in investing in families, and we're grateful for every conversation, connection, and word of encouragement.

At the end of the day, every idea shared and every relationship formed points back to the same purpose: equipping parents with rich, Christ-centered educational resources that help them confidently disciple and educate their children. It's a privilege to serve homeschool families, and we're thankful for those who are investing their time, talents, and wisdom to help that mission grow.

Thank you, Amplify Mission Network, for creating a space where collaboration can flourish. We left encouraged, inspired, and even more excited about the future of Portals.

We created Portals to make excellent, Christ-centered education easy and accessible.

We created Portals so homeschool parents can spend less time planning and more time actually learning with their children.

Our online lesson plan dashboard does both of these things.

Accessible from the browser on your computer, phone or tablet, simply open the day’s lesson and follow along.

Everything is laid out for you—what to read together, what to talk about, and how to apply what you learned through meaningful projects.

No piles of teacher’s manuals to sort through. No separate app to download.

Just open, read, think, do, done. ✓

Less time planning. More time learning and enjoying your homeschool journey.

Message us today to connect with real homeschool parents, veterans and educators. It would be our joy to serve you and your family!

At Portals, we believe the best learning happens when children get to do something meaningful with what they’re learning.

We don’t want them to simply read facts, memorize them, and move on. We want them to use what they’re learning to create something, try something, solve a problem, practice a real skill...

That’s why hands-on, project-based learning is the heart of Portals. It gives children the chance to take what they’re learning off the page and put it into practice. This builds deeper understanding, confidence, and develops practical skills along the way.

Education isn’t just about knowing the right answers. It’s about learning to think, create, problem-solve, and apply what you have learned.

Anyone can memorize an answer. But can they explain why it’s the answer?

At Portals, we believe learning should move beyond worksheets and memorization into meaningful conversations that cultivate understanding, reasoning, and confidence. When children can explain what they’re thinking, they’re building skills that reach far beyond math, history and science.

We don’t want students to simply remember information, we want them to truly understand it. To ask thoughtful questions. To make meaningful connections. To think critically through a biblical worldview.

Our goal has never been to help students simply pass a test. Our goal is to equip parents to raise children who pursue truth, think wisely, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
