This is his first .na project and he's already got a solid opinion of their system
Everyone has different opinions on parenting but my son has been on projects since he was 8 weeks old and helping since he was a toddler.
His first board bending project at 2.
First decking install with at 4.
First tracksaw cut field decking at 5.
Now at 7, he's a confident installer.
Throughout our lives, we are always having to develop new skills while refining old ones. When you empower those around you to learn and explore in safe environments, the results will often surprise you.
Huge shoutout to for developing such a stable platform that is so easy to learn AND stable over time.

Taking a page from tbe playback with the tarp under .lumber
Previously used lots of fabric cloths i had but the shaving stuck to every drop I used. Tarps, totally different experience. This thing is like having a 10x16 dustpan!
Between the tarp and the large millings from the saw blade on our saw, dust management and site cleanliness is a totally different experience

Something big is happening behind the scenes in the deck industry.
What started as a small internal project to solve a problem in our own sales and design process has started gaining serious momentum.
The original goal was simple:
Build a better way for deck builders to design, present, price, and communicate projects with homeowners.
Because let’s be honest — most builders are still forced to piece together sketches, spreadsheets, supplier quotes, rendering tools, takeoffs, and gut-instinct pricing just to get a project across the finish line.
That process is broken.
And builders deserve better.
What started as one builder trying to solve that problem has now gained the support of one of the largest and most respected organizations in the building-products industry.
This is a company with decades of history, a culture built around material innovation, and the scale to influence how construction products move through the market.
They saw what we were building.
They saw the problem we were trying to solve.
And they believed in the potential impact enough to help push it forward.
That matters.
Because this is no longer just about building software.
This is about creating better systems for the builders who care about doing things right.
Better design conversations.
Better homeowner confidence.
Better material clarity.
Better project communication.
Better sales tools.
Better ex*****on.
The goal is not to replace craftsmanship.
The goal is to give craftsmanship more leverage.
The future of this industry will not be won by the cheapest estimate.
It will be won by the builders who can communicate value clearly, design smarter, build stronger, and give homeowners more confidence from the very first conversation.
That is what we are building toward.
What started small is becoming something much bigger.
And I believe the deck industry is ready for it.

If you've never used the stuff...
Stop acting like you know how it performs! 🤣
We are a few years into working with .lumber on our projects so we've learned a few things about it in that time. We've tested it under some wild conditions and we've used it to break barriers in our designs that other materials just can't touch.
But for the love of God and everything that is good in the world, all of you builders who have never used the stuff and hate it because its new to you... S**U and try it for yourself!

In progress of installing our outer rim joists
This is one of the ways we re-allocate customer budgets from finishes to put in framing. By upgrading to .lumber from wood, now only can we offer our clients decks with a lifetime warranty on the framing, we can also conceal all the fascia fasteners by using .lumber framing and screwing it from the rear instead of the face.
By doing this we regularly shift thousands of dollars in fasica related costs for a wood deck, and instead offer a much better frame & eliminate any visible fasteners around the perimeter of our decks.

.lumber decking & framing WORK IN PROGRESS
We had some fun and folded more material in lengths we haven't folded yet. 2x10 blocks folded for fascia corners. Deck boards folded down the length of the boards to cap our skirting details.
We aren't done with it but already loving the way this is turning out

Taking this .lumber marine grade decking ALL the way back
Cutting straight lines against brick veneers has always made me sick 😫 🤮
We will always take the extra time to scribe in the details and cut them out. Its nice when its only a few linear feet. In this case, we have about 65' linear feet of brick on this one.
It takes extra time but the results speak to the effort no gaps.
Whats your take?
