🎄 Christmas came early at the Audubon Area Head Start Summer Institute! 🎄

Our Area 11 team had an incredible week learning, growing, laughing, and preparing for another amazing year with our children and families.

This year’s Christmas-themed Summer Institute was full of fun surprises, including a special visit from Ralphie from A Christmas Story! His message reminded us that every story matters… a perfect fit for this year’s theme:

“Every Child Has a Story. Let’s Make It a Good One.”

We also celebrated exciting accomplishments, recognized outstanding staff, enjoyed time together as a team, and left feeling inspired for the 2026–2027 program year.

We can’t wait to welcome our families back and begin another year of learning, growth, and making great stories together! 💜🎄📚

🌱 Webster County Home-Based families have been busy growing, learning, and exploring!

After participating in the Miracle-Gro Garden Grant project, we recently completed our final garden planter by adding cucumbers, watermelon, and strawberries. Children and families enjoyed getting their hands in the soil, watering plants, and learning about how gardens grow.

We also cooled off with some water play, enjoyed the sunshine, and even used lettuce from last year’s garden to top our hamburgers during today’s socialization!

What a wonderful way to connect learning, healthy eating, outdoor exploration, and family engagement. We can’t wait to watch our garden continue to grow! ☀️🍓🥒🍉💜

🐝💛 Parent Leadership in Action! 💛🐝

During Miss Paula’s recent socialization, families discussed ideas for this year’s class yearbook. One of our talented parents volunteered to create a custom cover design, and the finished product is absolutely “un-bee-lievable!”

This special keepsake reflects the creativity, leadership, and partnership that make our Home-Based program so meaningful. We are grateful for parents who share their talents, ideas, and time to help create memorable experiences for all of our families.

Thank you for helping make our classroom “the best place to bee!” 🐝💜

McLean County Home-Based recently celebrated our special “Donuts with Dudes” socialization! 🍩💙

Children were joined by the important men and role models in their lives for a morning filled with learning, laughter, and connection. Families enjoyed donuts together, participated in hands-on activities, captured memories at our photo booth, and explored books and learning experiences side-by-side.

We were also excited to welcome a special guest storyteller who helped make the day even more memorable! ❤️

Thank you to all of the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, and other caring adults who took time to be part of this special event. Your involvement helps strengthen relationships and supports children’s learning and development every day.

We missed those who couldn’t attend and look forward to seeing everyone at our End-of-Year Celebration! 🌟💜

🌱 🌼 Muhlenberg County Home-Based families enjoyed a special parent engagement activity during socialization this month!

Through our Parent Committee, families voted to use Parent Activity Funds to decorate flower pots and plant seeds together. Parents took the lead in planning, guiding activities, and supporting their children’s learning every step of the way.

This was a wonderful example of parent leadership in action while families created a fun, hands-on experience that can continue at home as they care for and watch their plants grow.💜

Trigg County Home-Based has had a wonderful year of learning, playing, and growing together!

Our families have participated in literacy activities, art projects, block building, sensory experiences, and family-style meals, all while learning alongside their children. We were also excited to welcome special visitors, including our local Children’s Librarian, who helped foster a love of books and reading.

One of the best parts of our year has been seeing parents actively engaged in socializations, building connections, sharing ideas, and creating learning experiences that can continue at home.

Thank you to our Trigg County Home-Based families!💜

🌱💚 Webster County Home-Based families enjoyed a wonderful gardening socialization focused on learning, collaboration, and growing together!

This special event was a collaborative effort between Area 11 Home-Based and Area 7 Early Head Start. Families worked side-by-side to expand upon a garden project that had been started previously, using plants donated through the Miracle-Gro Grant along with additional donated plants from the community.

Children and caregivers explored gardening together by planting, watering, digging, and caring for the garden beds while learning about nature, healthy foods, and the importance of working together toward a shared goal. These hands-on experiences support school readiness through science exploration, language development, fine and gross motor skills, and meaningful parent-child interaction.

We are grateful for the partnership between programs and the generosity of community supporters who helped make this experience possible. 🌼🌿💜
