During MayX, WGSS Oversight Committee and Faculty Member Kylie Fisher co-taught "Art & Empires," which brought 19 Furman students to Munich, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest to examine how art collecting, patronage, and curation is intertwined with imperial activity and legacies of colonialism in Central Europe. While at the Albertina Museum in Vienna, Kylie visited the thought-provoking contemporary art exhibition, Care Matters, which explores the often-invisible labor of women as care takers for their families and communities.

For the month of June, Kylie is participating in the Select Summery Residency Program at the National Humanities Center in Durham, NC, where she is working on her book project, "Bodily Ambiguity: Q***r- and Otherness in Early Modern Art."
