Lillian “Lilly” Chaney became a Mustang Drama regular long before she began high school, and she was featured in all eight Mustang Drama productions of her high school career. She portrayed Pippi Wrongstocking in 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 and showcased her choreography and dance talents as Race in 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘴. During her sophomore year, we saw her play the giggly Mary in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘉𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘯, and she impressed audiences as the savvy and soulful Justice Charlier in 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘴. Junior year saw her take on multiple roles in 𝘗𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘴 while also shining as Urleen in 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. This year, Lilly gave her all as the vibrant, aspiring actress Millie Plinders in 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯, and she truly outdid herself as the idealistic and romantic Sophie Sheridan in 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘢.

Lilly is an intelligent, accomplished, diligent, and studious person who has a heart for others. She also has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to be silly and have fun. Her ability to balance work and play will lead to her success at Drury University where she will major in mechanical engineering and be a member of the shotgun sports team. We know she is capable of accomplishing anything she sets her sights on! Lilly, your ability to balance hard work with fun will serve you well throughout your life. We will miss you immensely, but we look forward to watching you achieve your goals!

In the fall of her freshman year, Sara Armstrong portrayed Cuddles O’Boyle in 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 and Finch in 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘴. Sophomore year saw her transform into the town gossip, Mrs. Fitch, in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘉𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘯, as well as the stern German businesswoman Hilda Klinemann in 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘴. During her junior year, Sara portrayed Megan Jones in 𝘗𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘴 and the ever-lovable Rusty in 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. This year, she gave her all to the role of Donna Sheridan in 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘢, including cheering on her castmates when influenza prevented her from completing the show’s run.

Anyone who has had the privilege of seeing Sara perform knows she is a powerhouse. Beyond her talent onstage, she is an intelligent, socially conscious, outspoken, kind, and determined person who knows what she wants and pursues it fearlessly. Those qualities guided her through a successful college audition process, earning her acceptance into several musical theatre programs and ultimately leading to her commitment to Ohio Northern University where she will pursue a BFA in musical theatre.

Sarah - You successfully navigated senior year, including a few unexpected twists as well as college auditions, with grace and grit. You already possess all you need to succeed, so trust yourself to navigate the path you have chosen. McKinley Gates joined Mustang Drama in spring 2023 when she debuted as Mike in our production of 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘴. During her sophomore year, she portrayed Mrs. Potter in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘉𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘯 and appeared as a Venus-A-Go-Go Dancer in 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘴. In her junior year, McKinley showcased her range by taking on multiple roles in 𝘗𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘴 and bringing warmth and charm to her portrayal of Wendy Jo in 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. This year, she continued to demonstrate her versatility as a performer with a sincere and grounded performance as Helen Bailey in 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯, as well as a lovable portrayal of Rosie Mulligan in 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘢!

McKinley will attend the University of Kentucky where she plans to major in law and justice. She is one of the fairest, kindest, and most self-motivated team players our program has had the privilege of working with. Ella Wood first stepped onto the Martin Hall stage as Specs in our 2023 production of 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘴, and she later brought Sherrie’s Mother to life in the 2024 production of 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘴. During her junior year, she showcased her versatility as Susie Bones and Myrtle in 𝘗𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘴 and as Ethel McCormack in 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. This year, she delivered memorable performances as Jean Perkins in 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯 and Tanya Cresham-Leigh in 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘢.

In August, Ella will begin her studies at Murray State University where she plans to major in pre-med and minor in music. Despite her remarkable talent, Ella has remained kind, humble, and always willing to help others. We have every confidence that she will continue to pursue both her intellectual and artistic passions with curiosity and dedication, and we look forward to seeing where those pursuits lead her. Nathan Stogner first stepped onto the Martin Hall stage as Tommy Boy in our 2023 production of 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘴. The following spring, he brought quirky charm and infectious energy to the roles of Franz Klinemann and Ja’Keith Gill in 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘴 (2024). Expanding his talents beyond the stage, Nathan also worked backstage as a member of the 𝘗𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘴 tech crew before returning to the spotlight as Bickle in 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. This year, he completed his Mustang Drama journey as a member of the ensemble in 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯 and as Sky in 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘢.

Throughout his time with Mustang Drama, Nathan proved himself to be a friend and encourager to all. He is dependable, mature, compassionate, and thoughtful—qualities that will serve him well at WKU as a music education major and throughout his future career as a music educator. Nathan, you have left an indelible mark on our program and in our hearts. We know incredible opportunities and adventures await you, and we can’t wait to see all you accomplish.

Seth Buchanan’s high school adventures with Mustang Drama began in his freshman year when he portrayed Fingers in 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵. After stepping away sophomore year to pursue other interests, we were thrilled to welcome him back as a junior when he portrayed Oliver Rivers in 𝘗𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘴 and Chuck Cranston in 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. This year, Seth left it all on the stage as Dr. Stephens in 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯 and Samuel Carmichael in 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘢!

Seth has consistently proven himself to be a reliable, kind, and genuine friend. He is also an intelligent, confident, and determined goal-oriented person who will excel at Murray State University where he plans to major in computer science.
