After 1 week in the classroom these future CNA students are starting clinicals. Thank you to the staff at Arbor Grove for putting them to work and allowing them to learn their skills on actual residents. In addition, Arbor Grove is allowing us to have lecture and lab time at their facility while construction on the Simulation Lab is underway. Stay tuned for updates on these 8 hard working students. As well as a peak at our larger and improved Simulation lab.

The Medical Term students' exploration of the Urinary System took an informative turn with a special guest. Sag recounted his personal experiences with kidney stones, including treatments such as lithotripsy and stent placement. He presented actual kidney stones he had passed, offering. Observing the stones' size and composition firsthand was particularly interesting.

The Principles of Healthcare students had an opportunity to interact closely with Arbor Grove residents during a picnic, where they applied the 'Commit to Sit' principle. These students demonstrated strong service-oriented skills. It was impressive to observe them engaging with residents, learning about their backgrounds and experiences, which brought a sense of fulfillment.

The medical terminology students thoroughly enjoyed Eddie’s presentation on surgery and surgical careers, which was both informative and engaging. Eddie brought humor and a strong knowledge to the presentation, helping students stay interested while learning more about the healthcare field. Students participating in the Career Exploration program showcased their year-long experiences, allowing for a rewarding observation of their development as they discussed likes and dislikes, thanks to GCHS's partnership with DCMH featuring departmental rotations led by Anne Swinney and supplemental activities with Crystal McQueen from AHEC.
