As a member of the University of Pittsburgh network of schools, Pitt-Greensburg connects the best of big and small school environments: the resources of the University of Pittsburgh — one of the nation’s most prestigious research institutions — mixed with the individualized and immersive experiences of a small liberal arts college.

Join the Reading Challenge! 📚💙💛 Pitt-Greensburg will compete against the other Pitt regional campuses to see which campus can read the most books this semester!

As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11, do you remember where you were?

Alumni Relations staff was in a high school classroom -- a student teacher trying to find a balance between the tragedy unfolding and the day's lesson.

For several years, we have shared this article written by Michelle Bonnice from the September 26, 2001 issue of our student newspaper The Insider; this memory was kindly shared with us by Michelle's sister Cara. Her piece remains as poignant and powerful today as when it was originally published.

Dear Pitt-Greensburg students,

The power remains out on campus. As stated in Dr. Gregerson's email from last night, classes remain cancelled for today.

In addition, although we are not certain at this time, power may remain out on campus for the next few days due to the extensive damage in the surrounding areas. Therefore, if you are able to do so, we encourage you to go home or to a safe residence that has power. This may be the best option for some of you, considering that Monday is also a holiday when the University is closed and there are no classes that day.

For those of you who cannot leave campus, the dining hall will be open for meals, however, meal offerings will be limited due to the power still being out. All retail locations (Yella's, One Sushi, and the Coffeehouse) will be closed. Please speak with a dining services manager if you encounter any concerns while eating, and they will do their best to assist you.

Chambers Hall will remain open for any students who need it. Charging of any devices can be completed in Cassell Hall, which will also remain open. All University offices will be staffed remotely today during normal business hours.

Please continue to monitor your Pitt email for updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Office of Student Life & Success at [email protected] or (724) 836-9917 between the hours of 8:30am-5pm today. If you have an emergency, please contact Campus Police at (724) 836-9865.

Stay safe,
Dr. Hoffman
