Our Annual Musical Show is Saturday, September 12! This event is our favorite one of the year; its a day of watching our riders put their skills to music and show off what they've learned.

Hopefully this post answers all of your questions. Most of you have attended our shows and know how they operate. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please feel free to text me.

You will receive a sign up form at your lesson. I will need this returned by Friday, September 4. You can take a picture of it and text it to me.

I will post the ride schedule next weekend. If the posted time doesn't work, I need to know ASAP!

Please arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes before your ride time. Lilli, Gabriella Miabella, or I will find you before your ride and help you get where you need to be.

The barn and indoor arena are very busy on show day. Please be mindful of traffic in the barn, and give the horses who are in the barn an opportunity to rest between their rides.

Kate Brown will be taking pictures that day. I will be posting a flyer with sign up information ASAP.

We will have a shaved ice truck here that day, and will have puzza for lunch. We will also have some RKR swag available for purchase.

We encourage you to invite friends and family to our barn to watch! Hollie, Hazel, and Hope will be in the barn, so please let them know to watch for the girls.

This year, we will also have an 'Audience Choice Award', so please consider staying for the day. 😁

We can't wait to see all of our riders shine out there!

Tomorrow begins our Fall Schedule, so its time for my post about attendance/payment/dress code/etc.

Attendance
Regular attendance is mandatory to keep your place on the lesson roster. I understand that people miss lessons for lots of very good reasons, but if your rider is missing more lessons than they are attending, we need to discuss scheduling and commitment.

I understand that back to school means the return of germs and illness. If your rider is sick, please contact me ASAP to cancel. I do not charge for the first lesson missed due to illness. I also don't want anyone showing up sick to ride (I don't have time to get sick and my husband is immunocompromised), so please cancel if anyone is vomiting/has GI issues/is running a fever. Repeated cancelations could result in being charged for missed lessons (case by case basis).

Payment
Last fall, we adopted a tuition-based lesson format. While this seemed like a good idea and has worked well for some, it made other aspects of teaching difficult (most notably finding time for make up lessons). For this reason, we are keeping the policy of summer...you may pay for the month, or pay by the lesson. However, that means that I will look at attendance much closer.

I also know of a few upcoming dates when I will be unavailable for lessons, and will let everyone know these as they get closer.

Dress code
I usually don't have to worry as much about dress code at this time of year, but it bears repeating. If you are wearing open-toed shoes, flip flops, sandals you are not allowed near the horses when they are out of their stalls. Riders may wear tennis shoes for lessons, but will not be allowed to trot or canter for safety reasons. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WILL RIDE IN CROCS. (Sorry I had to yell that, but they simply are not safe for riding and I would rather emphasize it here than have to tell someone who arrives to ride in them.)

Miscellaneous

Our Annual Musical Show will be Saturday, September 12. I will have registration forms available at lessons this week.

There will (hopefully) be construction of the Martin's garage this week. While our horses are pretty accustomed to the noise of construction, we may change what we do in lessons if we decide it is unsafe to ride.

Now that the business end of the post is over......THANK YOU. Thank you for trusting us with your riders....for making the barn one of my favorite places.....for allowing us to share our live of horses with each of you. ❤️❤️

**Our Fall Schedule begins Monday, August 24.**

Lilli has room for a rider or 2. I have several riders who schedule week to week, some offsite lessons and training rides to schedule and purposefully left openings to accomodate them. I also probably should take a lunch from time to time. However, I am not opposed to adding a new rider or 2 to my schedule. 😁

Saturdays and Sundays are left intentionally open. This allows our horses to have 2 full days off.

I am just blown away by the support you all have shown, and want to thank you for being a part of our program.

Our horses had dental visits today! Keeping horses healthy and comfortable takes a village, and we sre grateful to have Jessie Dressler as part of ours!

How often do you think a horse should have a dental exam/float?

We had a wonderful time showing at the Mountaineer Flight II show yesterday! I could not be more proud of these riders and their horses!

The official-sounding show stats:
Gloria Brown Wolfe and Quinn made their recognized show debut, winning both of their tests.
Sandy Walter Rosvanis and Saint rode through some tough moments to have some very brilliant ones. They won one of their tests and took second in the other.
Riley Miller and Fritz were Champion JR/YR, and received their qualifying score for their second test.
Geno and I won our Third Level test (he totally carried me through this....I was not riding my best yesterday) and took second in Test of Choice.

That list of accomplishments does not begin to describe what happens behind the scenes.....riding out of your comfort zone, pushing through tough moments, working hard to improve even just a little bit. It also doesn't describe the quiet moments of brushing and walking and getting to spend the weekend with a horse you love. ❤️❤️

To say that I am honored to be their coach and friend would be an understatement. They are fun and encouraging and it is inspiring to watch them love their horses and this sport.

Thank you to our tribe, who helps us in every possible way:
Lisa Hall (who always helps me more than she will ever know)
Roger Reynolds
Brandie Snyder Miller
RA Miller
Lilli (who doesn't have Fb but gets props anyway)
Jordyn Martin

‼️SOLD‼️

The mares we had listed are SOLD!! 🎉 So now we have a very special gelding available on consignment.

And when I say special, I mean this is one I’m going to be VERY picky about where he goes.

This 21-year-old paint gelding has been part of my life in some capacity since 2013 and has been with me full time since 2017. I actually facilitated the sale between his first owner and his current owner, and since then he has also been one of the main horses in my lesson program.

He may be a little older, but don’t let the number fool you. He is sound and has always been sound other than an occasional abscess once or twice in all the years I’ve known him. He has never been injected.

He isn’t the cuddly, in-your-pocket type of gelding—but he is SAFE, experienced, and knows his job. And that means a whole lot more to me.

He rides English and Western and has:

* Shown in the hunters
* Shown in barrels and poles
* Foxhunted for many seasons
* Trail ridden extensively, both alone and in groups
* Spent years helping riders in my lesson program

He has been there, done that, and has the kind of life experience that you simply cannot manufacture.

Quite honestly, if I still had my lesson program, I would not be posting this ad. If my twins didn’t already have two ponies each, I probably wouldn’t be posting it either. And if Kynzlee has her way, there’s still a very real possibility I end up buying him myself and deleting this post. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤪

So if this sounds like the type of gelding you’ve been looking for, message me ASAP before Kynzlee talks me into making another questionable financial decision. 😂

A knowledgeable, loving home is an absolute must. He has been a huge part of my life for the last 13 years, and where he ends up matters far more to me than simply getting him sold.

Special consideration on price will be given if he stays here at SKM.

Message me for more information.

**Our Fall Schedule begins Monday, August 24.**

Before I list our schedule for fall, here is some important information:

Haley Anthony is leaving us to spend more time with her young daughter. Her last day will be this Friday, August 7. Most of her riders are staying and I added them to my schedule.

There will be no lessons Friday, August 14 (we are leaving for a show) or Friday August 21 (the horses have dental visits scheduled). I will contact Haley's Friday riders to reschedule these lessons.

Lilli has added a few riders for fall. I will list her schedule as I currently have it, although it may change.

I have several riders who schedule week to week, and purposefully left openings to accomodate them.
