October is breast cancer awareness month and this cause is near to many hearts of individuals affected by it. Many have been diagnosed with this disease—in fact, it is estimated that 279,100 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 in the US. Breast cancer accounts for 15% of all cancer diagnoses made. Lisa Keith, my mother, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (type of breast cancer) on June 25, 2020. Her cancer is stage 2b and grade 3, which basically means that it multiplies quickly and could easily spread to other parts. She has had 2 surgeries to remove the tumor and cancerous cells. Lisa started her radiation and chemotherapy treatments this past Monday September 21, 2020. My mother is an incredible woman who has had so many ups and downs. She is strong, independent, and such a caring and loving person. My family has come together and created a virtual 5k fundraiser and we’d love for everyone to participate! We also created t-shirts, keychains, and bracelets. We will donate the proceeds to Team Lisa to aid in paying for her medical bills. During this pandemic, money has been tight for all, but we hope everyone can help support this cause and Lisa! More information about the virtual 5k, costs, donations, and t-shirts will be provided. Hey, Class of 1987 do you want to make an investment into Greensburg and making it a better place? Now is your opportunity.
I (Susan Doerflinger Burkhart) have been working on this fundraising project from day one and this is going to an amazing place for our community. The Branch is more than just a coffee shop. It's a place where everyone is welcome. Our goal is to make sure that when you leave The Branch, you leave a better person. Not because there will be religion thrown at you, not the case. It will be how you are treated and cared for while there. This is a place for our youth to visit after school instead of an empty home, this is where our parents will play cards and enjoy themselves, this is where those of us hit that 3 pm wall will go to get rejuvenate not only with caffeine but with the friendly spirit that will exist.
We are blessed to having matching grant dollars until July 27th. So every dollar donated gets matched. This is where we can all meet after the 4th of July parade or just stop in while passing through town. Please consider investing back into our community. Hello, Classmates.....I will not be having a reunion at my home in June 24th!! It was too much for me too plan a reunion and a grad party all at once plus it is my daughter's day!!
If anyone wants to plan our 30th reunion, let me know, I do have the class list and such!!

Class of 87.....the annual Holiday Reunion is happening on Fri., Dec. 23rd. The fun begins at 7 pm!! Hope to see lots of you stop by!! My address is 164 N. Co. Rd. 500 E....just off of E Base Rd. Everyone is invited so pass it on!!!
