💛As we close out Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our incredible director, Mr. Darius Knox.

Today, Friday, May 8, we honor the tremendous work he has done to help make Greene County School of Scholars a success. This week, he poured into our teachers, the backbone of our program, with the same selflessness, dedication, and support he shows every day.

Our team is stronger because of his leadership. Mr. Knox leads with both firmness and compassion, always covering his staff while holding us accountable to operate with integrity. One of his favorite reminders is: “Love on these kids, man—just love on these kids.”

That message is reflected in the impact we’ve seen on the students in our program, the staff at Greene County Elementary School, and the broader community. Today, we celebrate and honor a truly committed educator, mentor, and leader.

🎉 Exceptional School Day at Greene County High School was a fun experience for all participating students! Shout out to our very own Lathan M., who competed in several events, as well as fellow student Za’Caiden C, who participated, monitored, and helped coach Lathan. Finally, thank you to our Behavioral Specialist, Mr. Lewis, for supervising and supporting our students!

Our students worked hard and earned every moment of fun! 🎉 We had a fantastic time celebrating their success at Dave & Buster’s! Greene County School of Scholars showing up and showing out!

We are so grateful for the incredible father figures who showed up to support our students at our ‘Donuts with Dad’ event that included dads, uncles, grandfathers, and volunteers from the Atlas Community Center.

Greene County School of Scholars continues celebrating Read Across America Week! 📚✨
Tomorrow we’re shining a light on reading! Students can wear neon colors, bright accessories, and fun outfits to help us light up our love for books! 🌟📖

Greene County School of Scholars’ Black History Month was packed with learning, celebration, and fun! ❤️💛💚

Here are just a few of the highlights from an amazing month:
✨ Director Knox and Behavior Staff Lewis participated in a Divine 9 step show.
✨ A wonderful Tiny Tigers performance as well as an energetic Mighty Tigers performance.
✨ Student presentations honoring Malcolm X, Shirley Chisholm, Madam C.J. Walker, Lonnie Johnson, featuring powerful inventor and revolutionary speeches.

Additionally, we were honored to have the Greene County Elementary School community and parents in attendance to support our students and want to thank you for showing up and celebrating with us!

Lastly, one more very special thank you to our guest speaker, Alabama State University alum Greg Jenkins, for pouring into our students and inspiring excellence.

We are proud of our scholars and the meaningful way they celebrated Black History Month! 🖤✨
