Dr. Fred Begay was a Navajo & Ute nuclear physicist who studied the alterative uses of laser, electron and ion beams to heat thermonuclear plasmas in order to find alternative energy sources.✨ The son of healers, Begay was deeply connected to his culture and drew many parallels between modern scientific ideas and those in Navajo religion and medicine. He saw his Indigenous roots as fundamental to his success as a scientist.
