Reflecting on fresh starts and setting PLC norms today at Peeler-Hampton VPA!

Dragons took flight in 2025-2026 as we officially opened our school for the first time. We had so many new aspects to navigate together as we took off. It's been a team effort, and we are proud of our work together! The State released official accountability results yesterday, and we want to highlight some of the results we are proud of in addition to others that are HUGE in taking flight!

Highlights from our inaugural year include:
- opened with 404 students and increased 100 students year 2
- over 20 informance and performance opportunities and 100s of arts integration lessons
- 54.5 performance composite
- met growth in reading and science
- 97.22% say on the 2026 Teacher Working Conditions Survey that our school is a great place to work and learn
- Ms. McCain is a our Teacher of the year and was recognized as a GCS Semifinalist!
- Dr. Cox is one of 5 GCS AP of the Year finalists!
- Dr. Peeples is one of 5 GCS Principal of the Year finalists!

Building Volume in Math!

Today, our 5th grade mathematicians put their understanding of volume into action! Students received different challenge cards. Some cards showed rectangular prisms with measurements in cubic units, while others showed multiplication expressions.

Their job was to use connecting cubes to build a rectangular prism that matched their card. 🧊 Students had to think about the length, width, and height of their prism and connect those dimensions to multiplication.

This hands on activity helped students see that volume is more than just a formula. It represents the actual number of cubic units needed to fill a three dimensional space!

Kindergarten was exploring math tools and small group rotations today!

Today in UFLI, K had fun practicing how to write and build the letters O, Q, C, and G in a variety of hands-on ways! ✏️ Theh explored sand tracing, play-doh, dry-erase markers, and crayons to help strengthen our letter formation skills. Learning is always more fun when it’s hands-on! 🌟 🖍️

Scholars in 2nd grade have listened to the fairytales “The Fisherman and His Wife,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” They took a moment yesterday to act out some scenarios from each fairytale! They did a great job in front of their peers!
