🌟 Alderman Bear Family—Coaching Season is off to a winning start! 🌟

Our coaches came ready to play, and we kicked off the season with purpose, teamwork, and heart. From day one, we’ve been in it to win it—engaging in the work, celebrating our accomplishments, and honoring every contribution that strengthens our team.

This year, we’re grounding our coaching in the 4 C’s:

Communication — clear, consistent, and centered on our scholars

Collaboration — working shoulder‑to‑shoulder to move the ball forward

Commitment — showing up with excellence every single day

Connection — building relationships that make our team unstoppable

At Training Camp, we reminded ourselves:

“A great coach doesn’t run the race for you. They equip you, encourage you, and pass the baton so you can carry the team forward.”

And that’s exactly what we’re doing—preparing, sharpening our skills, and gearing up for an incredible year with our Bears.

Good evening Alderman Bear Family.
We are so excited to begin a brand‑new school year, and we cannot wait to welcome our scholars back into the building. Last year was truly incredible — our Bears showed tremendous growth and proficiency, and that success is a testament to our hardworking scholars, our knowledgeable staff, and our supportive families. This year, we are aiming even higher.

Here are your weekly updates:

• August 13th, 3:30–5:00 PM — Back‑to‑School Kickoff
Join us for bookbag giveaways, ice pops, and important information about the upcoming school year. We will also have vendors on site selling sweet treats. Come enjoy time with our staff and the Alderman Bear community.

• August 19th, 5:00–6:00 PM — Kindergarten Kickoff
All kindergarten scholars are invited to meet their teacher, walk the halls, and get comfortable before the first day. Families will also receive information about our first‑week transition process, Camp Alderman.

• August 20th, 4:30–6:00 PM — Back‑to‑School Open House
Pre‑K and grades 1 through 5 are invited to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and prepare for a strong start.

• August 24th — First Day of School
School begins at 7:00 AM sharp. Families may walk scholars to class for the first two weeks. After that, students will begin signing in at the front door using their One Cards.

Bear Family, let's welcome our new Media Specialist, Ms. Crabtree!

Originally from Hickory, NC, but now proudly calling Greensboro home, this is her 7th year in education. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UNCG and is excited to inspire a love of reading and critical thinking in the Alderman library this year. A fun fact—she grew up singing in a trio with her two sisters called Crabtree-O! When she's not at school, you'll likely find her enjoying a Sonic snack or drink, and purple is her favorite color.

We are quickly approaching the moment when we get to welcome our Bears back into the building, and we hope you’re just as excited as we are.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 13th from 3:30–5:00 PM for our Popsicles in the Park: Back‑to‑School Kickoff right here at Alderman Elementary, 4211 Chateau Drive.

Music, games, and fun

Special prize drawings

A joyful community celebration to kick off the school year

🍧 Food Trucks:
We’re excited to welcome Caliee Belle’s with sweet treats and Come Eat Eit’Me Sweets, who will be supporting our ROAR Band. We are working to secure additional trucks—stay tuned for updates.
Most food truck items will be low‑cost, starting around $5 and up, making it easy for families to enjoy a treat together.

We can’t wait to see our Bears, reconnect with families, and celebrate the start of an amazing school year. 💛🐻
