I’m happy to be participating again this year in the pre-concert series for the John Coltrane International Jazz & Blues Festival. Come on out to the Continental Club (a cool little venue by the way, if you haven’t been there yet) in Greensboro this Friday from 8-11 pm. I’m looking forward to hosting a set of performances by some of my students at Common Grounds on May 17th at 7:00. This will be a fun, low pressure event that will give my students the chance to play for some other people, and to meet and interact with each other. The event is open to the public, so feel free to come watch!

I had a great time assisting the jazz band at Greensboro Day School with a rehearsal and a performance this past week. It was a lot of fun helping out and playing with this talented group of kids!

I've got a new blog post / video up that follows up on last week's post. This one continues to delve into using the Dorian Mode in the blues. In this video, I go through a blues solo that I put together that uses the Dorian Mode throughout it, and I do a phrase by phrase break down of what's going on in it.
