YA Mystery Book Series

The mystery book series may appeal more to the YA audience as the sleuths are high school seniors. The stories are more Agatha Cristie in nature. The new book covers should appeal more to a younger audience. What do you think of the new covers?

Love to correspond with those who have read books of either or both of the series.
In particular, how mystery readers like the personality developments through the series.
Also, I'd like to know if fantasy readers like starting the lifelong epic fantasy series with the character development in the coming-of-age first book, The Dragon Ring.
