Twenty-five years later, the impact of September 11 continues to be felt across generations.

Today we remember those who lost their lives and recognize the bravery, service, and sacrifice of first responders and community members who helped others in a time of crisis.

As students, educators, and future leaders, we honor their legacy by supporting one another, strengthening our communities, and working toward a more compassionate world.

On World Su***de Prevention Day, we support efforts to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen connections that promote hope and well-being. Su***de is preventable, and support is available. Every conversation, connection, and act of compassion can make a difference.

What we did over the summer....

As an administrative support, I work all year long. But that's not to say I didn't have fun while on campus!

1) One of the highlights was watching the Norway FIFA World Cup team practice! This summer I became a soccer fan!

2) This summer we also hosted two campus tours for students from Appalachian State Upward Bound program! This was our 5th summer leading this tour! Shout out to Professor Hunt and our student volunteers who helped make this possible!

3) Mid-summer I joined Kaplan gym and am teaching myself how to swim!

Congratulations to Maria Golden, BS Health and Human Sciences, Public Health Education with a concentration in Community Health Education.

Maria is a first-generation college student and was on the Dean's and Chancellor's list consistently while at UNCG and graduated Magna Cum Laude!

"Thank you to Professor Hunt for making college classes enjoyable. Some of my favorite college memories include Professor Hunt giving my friend the Heimlich and riding around campus in the golf cart with Healthy UNCG staff giving fist bumps to people on campus! I also want to thank DP for always pushing me out of my comfort zone and for supporting and encouraging me in everything I do!"

Maria future plans include a career working with youth!

From all of us in the UNCG Department of Public Health Education, we are happy that you chose us, all the way from Whitesville, NY, as your educational partner! We appreciate the enthusiasm you shared for 500 Fist Bumps and hope that you continue to spread joy wherever you go!

Enjoy this time! You've worked hard!

PSA-If you don't know how to do the Heimlich Maneuver, please learn. You might just save a student's life! Thank you Professor Hunt!
