UNCG Trumpet Studio

What a thrill for our trumpet ensemble to perform for the 50th Anniversary of the International Trumpet Guild at the famed Eastman School of Music! These students performed beautifully in the hallowed Kodak Hall and opened for the Brass Queens concert (which was amazing!). They performed a very fun piece called A Beatles Fantasy by Evan VanDoren - go check it out! Full video coming soon. Wildly proud of these young musicians and grateful they had this amazing opportunity!

Congratulations to our 2026 graduates! Jack Kannan (BM Music Education), Calvin Godfrey (MM Performance), Ninon Kirchman (MM Performance, not pictured), and Jake Robertson (DMA Performance) have all achieved extraordinary things during their time at UNCG. But mostly, they are just the best people and we will miss them as members of the studio dearly. Congrats, graduates!

Finishing up this semester's large ensemble, we've got George and Jesus representing the trumpet studio in Sinfonia on music by Glière and Wagner!

A fine concert by the UNCG wind ensemble featuring bassoon professor Dr. Reynolds and Omar Thomas's Come Sunday! Special congratulations to Ninon Kirchman and Calvin Godfrey for finishing their master's degrees, too.

MM student Ninon Kirchman put together an incredible program of female composers performed by all female performers. Ninon’s thoughtful musicality, wide range of tonal colors, and true commitment to the music were all on display, not to mention her mastery of the trumpet. Ninon is graduating this spring and we all will be hearing about her success in the future. She will be spending this summer attending the Eastern Festival of Music where she will study with Chris Gekker. Congratulations, Ninon!

Congratulations to BM Music Education student Tyson Sessoms on a wonderful recital! Tyson played with technical accuracy, emotion, and swagger. It’s always a pleasure hearing his mature sound. An excellent evening of music!

The Symphonic Band trumpet section kicked off concert week with a wonderful performance celebrating American music and featuring some UNCG faculty!

Bravo tutti for a terrific studio recital! And big thanks to guest professors Jon Kaplan and Alex Wilborn along with graduate assistant Darrion Keck for working with our students while Dr. Klein was on parental leave. So much progress by everyone!

Congratulations to Calvin Godfrey on a stunning recital! Calvin will be graduating with his MM this year. He has exciting things in the works for the future, including continuing his role as Principal Trumpet in the . Bravo, Calvin!
