Big things are landing in Greensboro, and our students are leading the way! ✈️🚀
Today marks an incredible milestone for our community with the groundbreaking of JetZero’s new advanced manufacturing facility right here in the Triad. They are building the world’s first commercial blended-wing body aircraft—a true revolution in aviation—and it's projected to bring over 14,500 high-tech jobs to our region!
But the best part? Our TDL Academy students aren't just going to watch history happen—they are actively preparing to drive it.
We are thrilled to share that our students are participating in Deloitte’s "Believers" program, an incredible collaboration with JetZero, Guilford County Schools, UNCG, and the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. This year-long workforce development initiative is bringing hands-on robotics, AI, engineering, and computer science directly into the mix, giving our students the exact skills, tech exposure, and career pathways they need to step right into these next-generation aerospace and smart manufacturing roles.
From the classroom to the flight line, our students are proving that they are ready to innovate, create, and lead the future of aviation.
Huge thanks to Deloitte, the Deloitte Foundation, JetZero, and all the local partners investing in our classrooms and our community's future. The sky isn't the limit anymore—it’s just the starting point! 🛠️💻✨
Greetings WGHS Families,
This is your principal, Keith Barnett, with some important reminders about graduation tomorrow for the Class of 2026.
Graduation will be held on June 12th at 12:30 PM at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Coliseum has strict policies about bags and outside items being brought in for graduation so please be sure to review these expectations on the Coliseum website prior to graduation. Each graduate received 14 tickets to graduation. Each guest, including infants and small children must have a ticket to enter the coliseum. There will be other graduation ceremonies taking place so please allow time for traffic and parking.
Seniors walking in the graduation ceremony should arrive at the Greensboro First Horizon Coliseum at 11:30 AM and must have a cap, gown, and tassel in order to walk. Students do have a dress code for the ceremony that has been shared with them. Gentlemen should wear dark slacks, dark socks with dress shoes (No sneakers). Young ladies may wear pants or dresses, but they will need to wear dark pants as well if they elect that option. Dresses may be of any color/style but students may want to consider the length of the dress and length of the graduation gown. Open toed shoes for young ladies are permitted, but no sneakers for the ladies as well and they are strongly encouraged to avoid heels. There will be quite a bit of walking for students from the assembly area to the ceremony so comfort and practicality will be an important consideration. Students may not decorate or alter their cap, gown, and tassel. If they arrive at the ceremony having done so they will have to purchase replacements in order to participate in the ceremony. Seniors who received cords or stoles from the school should wear those to the ceremony. They cannot wear homemade stoles or have any other items that were not issued directly through the school during the ceremony. Students may also not have their cell phones out during the ceremony, and these will need to be left in their pockets or with family members to receive after the ceremony.
Finally, please check with your senior student to ensure they returned their Chromebook and charger, and do not owe any fees for library books, AP Exam fees, athletics, etc. If all items were not received and fees paid in full by 5:00 pm today, Thursday, June 11th, students will still be allowed to walk and participate in the graduation ceremony, but they will not receive their diploma until those items are returned and fees paid.
We look forward to celebrating our Seniors tomorrow. Thank you ,
Good Evening WGHS families. This is your principal, Keith Barnett, with your last weekly Hornet Nation updates for the year.
Many of our students have completed all their exams and have concluded the school year at this point. However, we are still conducting retake and make-up exams this week so it is important for any students who are retesting their EOC or those who have missed an exam to come to school to take those exams on the identified days. On Monday students who are taking Math 1, Biology, or Math III EOC retakes should report to school at regular time. On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we will be conducting make-up exams for any teacher-made, GCFE, or EOC exams. Students who need to make up an EOC or GCFE exam will report to the media center upon arrival at school. Any student who needs to make up a teacher-made exam will need to contact their teachers to schedule to take their exam. As a reminder, final exams are 20% of a student’s grade and are required in most courses to receive credit for the class. Any student who has missed an exam should report to school at regular time on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Good evening WGHS families. Tomorrow we begin our teacher-made final exams and our GCFE final exams for our underclassmen students. There will be two exam periods held each day.
1st and 2nd period exams for these tests will be held on Wednesday. 3rd and 4th period exams will be held on Thursday, June 4th. 5th and 6th period exams will be held on Friday, June 5th. Some students are exempt from these exams and parents would have already signed their exemption form if that was the case.
For each of these days, the morning exam period will be from 9:20 am to 12:00 noon followed by a review period and lunch between 12:05 pm and 1:45 pm. The afternoon exam period will begin at 1:50 pm and run until school dismisses at 4:20 pm.
If you plan to allow your student to check out early after their morning 1st, 3rd, or 5th period exam there are two primary options. Option one is for students to fill out the forms for early release that were previously shared with them. If a student does not have an early release form, the parent or guardian can send an email authorizing early release to our Attendance Secretary, Ms. Sidbury. Her email address [email protected] and can also be found on our website. The email must be from the email address we have on file for the parent or guardian. Emails can be sent in beginning tonight.
Students will be expected to remain in their exam period for the duration of the exam time. When the bell rings to dismiss students from the testing sessions, they will be permitted to leave with the appropriate aforementioned documentation. Students may also still be checked out from school by having a parent/guardian come to the office between 12:05 and 1:45 each day as well. We will not be able to allow students to leave the testing room until the end of the exam period. If a student is here they will be expected to attend their class for the exam period that day.
Finally, please remind your student that phones and any electronic devices other than a school issued device are not permitted during testing. If a student is found with a device in the testing session, they will be subject to receiving a “0” on the exam that will count for 20% of their grade.
We thank you for your support of our school and your students as we engage in final exams for this year.

Good evening WGHS families. This is your principal, Keith Barnett, with your weekly Hornet Nation updates.
Final Exams continue this week with English II and English IV exams on Monday. On Tuesday we will have make-up exams for all our EOC and CTE Health Science Exams and our Senior students will take their Math IV, Discrete Math, and EPF GCFE finals. If your student missed an EOC exam last week, please ensure that they are at school on Tuesday this week to make-up their exam.
If your student has been invited to attend a remediation/retesting session for Math 1, Math III, or Biology, please support your student in attending this opportunity. Students who received this invitation will have an opportunity to retake their EOC exam and their final grade will reflect the higher of their two scores. This is a great opportunity for students, and we want them to take advantage if they qualify.
Beginning on Wednesday this week we will have our Teacher Made and GCFE Final Exams. 1st and 2nd period exams for these tests will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd. 4th and 5th period exams will be held on Thursday, June 4th. 5th and 6th period exams will be held on Friday, June 5th. Some students are exempt from these exams and parents you would have already signed their exemption form if that was the case.
The EOY testing schedule has been previously shared with students and can be found on Canvas and on our school’s website.
Chromebook collection: Families if your student has a school issued device, they are to turn that device into their teacher at their last exam for the year whenever that occurs. Please ensure your student returns their school-issued device and charger at the conclusion of their testing.
