Pat Tillman for School Board
It's my honor and distinct privilege to serve the students, educators and families of District 3.
Educating our children is the cornerstone to building stronger communities and a vibrant economy. There can be no single more important calling than to ensure all children are college/career ready, equipped with the tools to compete in a global economy and be productive citizens, no matter their background, socio-economic status or physical abilities.
Attention all Brooks Global Studies Magnet School parents and members of the community. Please join our 1st of two scheduled informational meetings via the weblink provided below. These "Discovery Sessions" are designed to help those learn more about proposed construction/renovation plans for Brooks Global. There will also be time for a Q & A with our designers and architects.

This news story from ABC-45 local affiliate is inaccurate. Your Board of Education did NOT email GCS teachers Monday letting them know Friday they could not take off. This decision (as are nearly all personnel/H.R. decisions) was administered from the County Office. I have reached our to my contact at the local news affiliate to set the record straight.
GCS rescinds this Friday's leave requests, employees frustrated Some Guilford County School employees are unable to take personal time because of a major shortage in substitute teachers. Educational leaders say this Friday, many employees already planned to take the day off, whether it's for vacation, court dates and family time. This week is almost A&T's big ho...

Today is about remembrance and with that spirit of honoring our fallen, I reflect on CWO Charles G. "Brikwall" Wells Jr of Montgomery AL. CWO Wells died March 29th, 2005 as a result of hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. This image was the first memorial service I attended in Iraq upon being in country for 11 weeks. CWO Wells was an inspiration to me and all those whom he touched. Tough, intelligent, modest, and caring; he had this elegance about him in all he did. It was like he was cast right out of Hollywood for a leading man role in a war movie. But unlike the movies, endings don't always turn out like they should. I thought if I could ever be just a little like CWO Wells I could be something special. RIP Brikwall. You are missed today and always. You still motivate us today. Let us remember and honor all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Semper Fidelis

Grateful, humbling are the two words that surface after tonight's win for a 2nd term. My opponent Blake Odum and I executed perhaps the most cordial campaign in history of politics and that feels good ☺ To my nimble and loyal team (small in number, big on grit and heart) thank you seems completely inept but I'll say it anyway. We did it with old school local politics in a pandemic. There is much work to do and to quote an ancient African proverb "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together". Let's do this together.

What a great day to spend with the Kindergartners, and high octane teachers & staff Pearce Elementary School These little ones were all masked, distanced and working so dilligently when I was interacting with them. Huge thanks to Principal Rich Thomae and his staff for hosting me. And, thank you Guilford Education Alliance
and all our sponsors for coordinating under such difficult circumstances.
