Great evening, Cone Cougar families. This is Principal Farmer-Gills with our first weekly updates and reminders for the 2026-2027 school year.

We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful summer! We are excited to welcome our Cone Cougars back and get ready for another great year of learning, growing, and shining together.

First, thank you to everyone who joined us for our Cougar Kinder Meet and Greet for our incoming kindergarten students last week. It was wonderful to meet so many of our new scholars and families, and we are excited to officially welcome you to the Cone family!

Tomorrow, Monday, August 17th, begins our first teacher and staff workday for the week. Our team is looking forward to coming together, collaborating, and preparing to ensure our students have an amazing school year.

Families, don't forget about our Welcome Back Cougar Bash Open House this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Come out to meet and greet your child's teachers and our staff, connect with district and community partners, and get ready for the new school year. Hot Dog Central will be on site with food available for purchase, and every Cone student in attendance will receive a Kona Ice treat!

Lastly, mark your calendars because the first day of school is Monday, August 24th! We can't wait to welcome our Cougars back into the building and kick off what we know will be a great year.

Great evening Cone Cougars families!

People 18 years and younger who live in Guilford County can pick up free meals this summer.

Meals are available Monday, June 15, 2026 - Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Families have two options:

Pick up seven days worth of breakfasts and lunch once a week at one of four meals-to-go sites; or
Dine in for breakfast and lunch daily at any of our 13 summer meal distribution sites.
Families must register for the meals-to-go option and can not visit a meals-to-go and dine-in site during the same week.

Children must be present to receive meals. Meals may not be received at multiple locations on the same day.
