As many of you know, Richie retired last spring. He did this in part because he knew the College was struggling financially and he hoped that giving up his salary would help save jobs. It all happened so fast in the midst of this pandemic that none of us in the department really could process the loss of him as a colleague. But now we are finally ready to celebrate his retirement and thank him for his 40+ years of incredible teaching, mentorship, and service to Guilford College.
Please join us by signing this card. Include your first and last names, and your year of graduation if you are an alum.
And feel free to share this with others. Thanks!

The world needs Guilford College now more than ever. Please do your part to help ensure that future generations benefit from Guilford's focus on critical thinking, practical liberal arts, and value-based education.
As people likely know, the Guilford College Board of Trustees announced in early January they were “setting aside” the proposed cuts to the College's liberal arts programs and the terminations of tenured faculty positions. They are now pursuing a new “implementation process” to discern financially feasible alternatives for Guilford that are more in line with the liberal arts tradition and the Quaker values which have been the College’s foundation for nearly two centuries. To meet these goals and avoid future draconian cuts to faculty and programs that would endanger the College’s future, Guilford needs our financial support during this critical time.
Save Guilford College is inviting donations to a fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Greensboro we have set up for this purpose. Donations will be released (minus a nominal processing fee that goes to CFGG) to the College upon confirmation of financial transparency and good faith efforts to create a path forward for Guilford that's in alignment with its mission and commitments to faculty and staff, and a path that preserves Guilford College as an institution that changes lives for the better—both those of its alumni and those whom they go on to serve.
