How important are meditation, breathing and focus exercises to over all success inside and outside of martial arts? Many highly decorated professional athletes employee sports psychologists as well as psychological advisers to help them develop the mental side of their craft. It also doesn’t stop with athletes as many successful individuals in business, politics and their own home work on the development of their mental focus and mental control through numerous channels. These highly successful people are attempting to figure out what martial artists have understood for centuries. The body follows the mind. So it is best to have a strong and prepared leader to follow!

So the next time that your instructor has the class engage in a fundamental meditation and breathing exercise, embrace this opportunity to develop what may be the greatest weapons in your arsenal - your mind and your spirit.
