The Greensboro Police Department - Greensboro GA will be conducting school safety training exercises at Greene County Elementary School this week in partnership with neighboring law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
Community members may notice an increased presence of law enforcement vehicles, emergency personnel, and training activity on campus during these exercises. Please do not be alarmed—this is a planned training event, and there is no threat to students, staff, or the community.
These exercises help ensure that first responders remain prepared to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support as our local agencies work together to keep our schools and community safe.

Greene College & Career Academy
Greene County School System - Georgia
05/22/2026
The Greene County School System is pleased to announce new leadership for both the Greene College & Career Academy and Greene County High School. Ms. Mariana Soca-Harrison has been named the new CEO of Greene College & Career Academy, while Ms. Kerry Flores will serve as the next principal of Greene County High School.
Ms. Soca-Harrison has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of GCCA over the past nine years, helping expand career pathways, workforce partnerships, and opportunities for students. Under her leadership as CTAE Director this year, GCCA was recently recognized as the Georgia College & Career Academy of the Year, and she was recently named the statewide GACTE Special Populations Administrator of the Year.
“I am incredibly honored to serve as CEO of Greene College & Career Academy,” said Soca-Harrison. “This academy represents the power of collaboration between schools, businesses, families, and the community. Over the last nine years, I have had the privilege of helping grow the academy alongside outstanding educators, students, business partners, and community leaders, and I look forward to continuing to build on our work and expand opportunities for students, strengthen workforce partnerships, and ensure every learner graduates prepared for success in college, career, and life.”
Ms. Flores returns to Greene County Schools after serving in multiple leadership roles in Richmond County. A former Greene County educator, she brings extensive experience in instructional leadership, school operations, and building strong systems that support student success. Over the years since teaching in Greene County, she has remained closely connected to the community and is excited to return home to GCHS.
“I am excited and honored to return to Greene County High School and serve a community that has always held a special place in my heart,” said Flores. “Over the years since I taught in Greene County, I have stayed connected to this community through athletic events, graduations, and relationships with former students and families because this county has always felt like home to me. I believe in creating strong systems, high expectations, and supportive relationships that allow both students and educators to succeed, and I look forward to building on the great work already happening at GCHS.”
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Soca-Harrison and Ms. Flores as they begin these new leadership roles!
