Join us April 24th for "The Queering of Eve"!
In this talk, poet Emilia Phillips, Associate Professor of Creative Writing, will discuss the development of "The Queerness of Eve," a 12-poem sequence that confronts a narrative of compulsory heterosexuality in the Garden of Eden. They will discuss other poets' representations of Biblical figures, what it means to write "q***r poetry," and what inspired them to write the sequence.
Dr. Derek Krueger, Professor of Religious Studies, will join Phillips to provide context on historical representations of Eve, her companion Adam, and the Garden of Eden.
Presented by Marth Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives.
