SHAR’s Snapshot
Since 2002, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has operated a federally-funded competitive grant award program to fund 21st Century Community Learning
Centers (CCLC) to provide after-school services. The intent of this federal funding is for grantees to provide after-school (and before school, weekend, or summer) academic enrichment opportunities for children attending high-poverty and low-performing schools as a means to help them meet local and state academic standards.

SHAR’s Snapshot 📚
When developing a program, it is key to have SMART goal(s):
Specific – Are you clear in what you are trying to do?
Measurable – Can you track and monitor progress with data?
Achievable – Will you reach your target in a reasonable time?
Relevant – Does this goal align with today’s needs?
Timely – When exactly can you accomplish this goal?
An example of a SMART goal: Our goal is to enroll 100 students for the summer camp [specific/measurable] by May 1st, 2022 [achievable/timeline]. Site coordinators [specific] will accomplish this goal by mailing out newsletters to 5 elementary schools. Accomplishing this goal will ensure that students who need summer care will have access to free meals, tutoring, and enrichment activities [relevant].
We can help you create SMART goals!!!

What is a Logic Model?
A Logic Model is a graphical illustration of a program and shows the relationship between its activities, resources, and outcomes. They are effective tools in defining a program’s intended impact and goals, and used widely in grant proposals.
The basic components of a Logic Model:
Inputs: Resources used for the program (ex: staff, equipment, funding)
Activities: Actions of the program done with the inputs (ex: training, tutoring)
Outputs: How many activities occur (ex: number of sessions)
Outcomes: Benefits or changes because of the activities (increase knowledge of participants)
Impact: Long term effects of the outcomes
