Before he was named the 2026 National Principal of the Year, Spartan Jason Johnson was a student at Hillside High School in Durham, inspired by the leadership of his own principal.
Johnson credits UNCG with providing the foundation that shaped his understanding of education and guided his journey through North Carolina’s public school system to national recognition.

A historic moment for Greensboro, Norway, and the FIFA World Cup 2026™! ⚽
Thousands of Spartans, Norway fans, and community members gathered at the UNCG Soccer Stadium for Team Norway's open training session. It was an opportunity to share in the global phenomenon and be part of Fotballandslaget's journey and the largest World Cup tournament in history.

Sage Short ’26 MFA was named poetry editor of “The Greensboro Review” in her second year at UNCG.
