Afterschool Tutoring- Spring Break edition! 🌸✨
What do you do when there’s no school or homework? You build community, learn history, move your body, and show up for each other. 💛
Last week was full of connection, creativity, purpose, smiles and laughter:
🎭 Theater fun with the Bending Tree collective from UNCG
⚽ Time on the field with the Guilford College Quakers Men's Soccer
🌿 Learning about the Underground Railroad and what it means to help others- brought to life through team-building activities and our growing kindness chain
🌳 A special tour through the Guilford Woods with Max Carter to visit the URR tree, followed by making kindness rocks to share with others
🍧 Popsicles on the playground, pickleball lessons with Don Kelly and Chris Shields, and a pizza party to close out the week strong!
Huge shoutout to everyone who poured their time, energy, and talents into making this week so meaningful. Especially to New Garden Friends Meeting for sharing such a beautiful space with us. 🌱
This is what welcome looks like. 💫

Inspired by the beautiful work of the ECAR Chapter at Russell Sage College and their "I Belong in Albany" coloring book, the ECAR at Guilford College Chapter has created their own version: "I Belong in Greensboro" 🎨🖍️
This new coloring book celebrates the diverse communities that call Greensboro home and helps create a warm welcome for newcomers—especially children.
We love seeing chapters inspire one another through creativity and care!

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we at Every Campus A Refuge honor Pope Francis’s life and legacy.
In 2015, Pope Francis called on every parish in Europe to host at least one refugee family— words that sparked the imagination of our founder, Dr. Diya Abdo, and helped birth a movement within higher education rooted in that same concept of radical hospitality. His call echoed across faiths, borders, and traditions, inspiring our belief that campuses, too, could become places of welcome, refuge, and sanctuary.
Pope Francis reminded the world that love must take form in action, and that hospitality is not charity—it is justice.
Even in his final days, he spoke plainly and prophetically—pleading for justice in Gaza, urging compassion for migrants and refugees, and speaking truth to power. We give thanks for his prophetic witness, his courage, and his unwavering call to welcome and shelter the stranger.
May his memory be eternal, and may we continue to answer the call he made so clearly: to open our doors and hearts.

Grateful to Max Carter this evening for sharing his life experiences, service at Guilford, and insights on Israel and Palestine with our ECAR volunteers after book club! His words shed light on the ongoing need for peace, justice, and awareness of oppression. Conversations like these inspire us to listen, learn, and work toward a more just world. Thank you Max for your time, wisdom, and dedication to truth!
