This side-by-side concert was a great way to spend a Saturday night. The Puccini aria was fantastic, from a 15 year old soloist making her professional debut!

I have had a great time playing education concerts with Greensboro Symphony this week! I challenged myself to play each of the eight shows on eight different reeds (I gave one to the other bassoonist, only seven pictured!)

Before and after sealing blank reeds. I only use cotton thread and beeswax to seal my reeds, it is simple, easy, and natural.

Tip profile Tuesday! The MD Reed Products Tip Profiler has saved me a ton of time (and frustration!) when finishing reeds. I recently started writing down thoughts on each reed and it has really helped me stay organized.

Summer blanks are still in production! I recently started “aging” my blanks (multiple soak-dry-ream cycles) before putting them away for the future. The fall semester is fast approaching and I have plenty of finished reeds and blanks in stock!

Fun new colors of thread! My summer goal is to stockpile a bunch of blanks before the final year of my doctorate begins. Hopefully these reeds sound as pretty as they look
