Did you know eelgrass is one of the most important habitats in Great Bay?

These underwater meadows provide shelter for young fish, crabs, and shellfish, help improve water quality by trapping sediment, and reduce shoreline erosion by slowing wave action. Healthy eelgrass is a sign of a healthy estuary—and protecting it helps protect the entire Great Bay ecosystem.
