We enjoyed a beautiful spring day together! I only took a few photos though. We hung up hammocks, we painted tree pictures, we cleaned up sticks, we played in the sand and collected worms for fishing, and we played board games. It’s so fun spending time with people who are just happy being together. Parents, please enjoy the cute poem in last photo. (No author listed). See if it doesn’t resonate with you! 😂

I was traveling last week and didn’t remember to post the rest of our photos from snail week. I will do that this week.

Enjoy your weekend!! 🌸🌺🌼

This past week we celebrated the first day of spring! 🌷🌹🌺🌸🌼🪺 Hip hip hooray!!

Marla planned this amazing tissue paper craft. Check out the last photo for my daughter’s finished project. We had fun playing board games indoors when the rain hit. Luckily, the kids got some Gaga ball time in before the rain. After our craft, the rain let up and we were able to enjoy a beautiful, damp spring day together! My favorite part of the day was after Bethany read us a story about spring, we went around the table talking about our favorite parts of spring.

We hope you had a beautiful weekend. I will post a few more pictures from last week in the coming days. Stay tuned!

We enjoyed a beautiful spring celebration yeaterday together! But since I haven’t posted pictures of last week, I’ll start there. We had a fun day, as usual, of playing, creating and crafting together. Our arts and crafts planner found this cute project for us. The kids learned about the life cycle of a frog and helped each other make the craft. We played board games, danced and played outdoors!

We’re eager to get outside more now that the weather is warming up! I predict lots of exploring and adventures in our near future!

To finish off nesting birds week, we had the kids build a bird’s nest and perform a drop test with a real egg. Nests are meant to protect eggs if the nest falls so this challenge was excellent for conveying that aspect of nests to the kids. We also practiced building fires, and cooking the leftover eggs on the fire. The weather was so perfect and we had such an amazing day together!

Yesterday we learned about nesting birds together. Our craft leader organized a great craft called “birds’ nest starters”. We twisted a wire into the shape of a bed spring and added a string to hang it with. We filled it with yarn, dryer lint, ribbons and tiny twigs. We are eager to see if we find any of our materials in birds’ nests around our homes over the next several months.

Here are our photos from Evergreen Week. We made critters out of pinecones, read a book on trees, used microscopes and jeweler’s loupes to inspect pine boughs and pine cones, and we sampled fresh, earthy white pine tea. I thoroughly enjoyed creating a beautiful day with all of my friends!

Yesterday’s weather was beautiful! We had so much fun play outside together. This was probably one of my favorite activities ever!! We made the trees have faces using clay.

We celebrated Earthworm Week with a short presentation by Marla, our new craft planner. She brought the books Nature Anatomy by Julia Rothman and the Handbook of Nature Study by Anna Comstock. The kids made worms and other art from pipe cleaners and googly eyes. Thanks for planning a fun activity, Marla!

Today was so windy that we were inside most of the time. Our nature curriculum was focused on week. We didn’t have much planned for that so we decided to do a sensory project before started. I saved corn from the fall for the kids to pop the dried kernels off. They had fun feeling the corn kernels. Brooklyn wanted to hide a kernel of corn that looked like a tooth under her pillow and see if she could trick the tooth fairy!
