Congratulations to the first Master Musician of the 2026-2027 school year!

Master Musicians are selected from students who were Random Rockstars in music class during the month. Rockstars are randomly selected at the start of each music class. Rockstars who follow the music rules and demonstrate leadership skills win a prize at the end of class and have their name added to the Wheel of Names. The Wheel of Names selects the month's Master Musician.

Congrats, Christopher! For his prize as Master Musician, Christopher wanted to eat lunch with Dr. Ricker. I look forward to it!

4th grade is traveling through our southern Appalachian mountains this week, learning about Appalachian folk music, bluegrass, and dances. Cedar Swamp is a folk dance performed as a longways set. Ms. Valentine’s class had lots of fun!

Kindergarten has been exploring moving our bodies to the beat in lots of different ways this week.

5th grade tigers just learned about this legend along with other Tennessee musicians last week. They know Dolly is a favorite of Dr. Ricker and they learned just how amazing a performer, business woman, song writer, and human Dolly is. May we each spread love and joy to those around us like the Queen of Country.

First grade explored the many directions their voices can move this week. The rode a vocal roller coaster and also composed a vocal pathway song using pipe cleaners. They shared their songs with their friends in class and combined them to create longer songs. So much fun!

Ms. Renner’s 5th grade class rocked at taking notes on Tennessee Musicians today (one of Dr. Ricker’s favorite lessons!)! After the lesson, students took turns sharing a fact they learned with their peers. TN has many famous musicians…aren’t we lucky?! 🎶

Whoa! Our chorus is a max capacity this year! Congratulations to these 4th and 5th grade students on passing their audition to become members of the Tusculum View Chorus for 2026-2027.
