5th grade celebrated Tennessee Day this week, so music joined in the fun by learning how to Square Dance. Did you know square dancing is the official folk dance of Tennessee? It’s harder than it looks! Mrs. Mcartt’s class did a great job today.

2nd grade traveled to Denmark this week and learned the song, “Syvspring” or “Seven Jumps”. Each verse adds a new body part to hold up before setting it down on the ground. Mrs. Benson’s class was fantastic! 😆

Congrats to the April Master Musician! Paisley was a Random Rockstar in music class during the month of April. Students are randomly selected at the start of each music class without their knowledge. At the end of class, if those students were leaders who made good choices, their name goes into a list of other Random Rockstars. Those names are placed in the Wheel of Names at the end of each month to determine a monthly Master Musician. Great job, Paisley!

Chorus wrapped up the 2025-2026 year with an epic party today. First, they cleaned out their binders and turned in their music. Then, they played games and ate lots of goodies provided by wonderful chorus parents. Thanks to everyone who pitched in and brought things to feed and hydrate this group!
Until next year! ✌️ 🎶

Shoutout to my senior student worker, Jon for sharing his trombone skills with us today! This week, 2nd and 4th graders will get the chance to learn more about the trombone, jazz, and improvisation during music.

We had so much fun at our second annual GCS Elementary Choral Festival. A crowd of easily 300 people were in attendance with abundant sunshine, smiles, and singing!
Congrats to each choir for wonderful individual performances, and our final two pieces as a combined group were fantastic! Great job to everyone involved!
