We thought about what responsibilities classical music performers have that contribute to the successful ex*****on of their art. Here are some key responsibilities:

🎼Practice and Rehearsal. Performers must dedicate significant time to practice their instrument or voice, mastering technical skills and musical pieces. Rehearsals with other musicians are also essential for ensemble cohesion.

🎼Interpretation. They are responsible for interpreting the music, which involves understanding the composer’s intentions, dynamics, phrasing, and stylistic elements to convey the emotional depth of the piece.

🎼Performance Preparation. This includes selecting repertoire, preparing for auditions or concerts, and ensuring that they are mentally and physically ready to perform.

🎼Collaboration. Classical musicians often work closely with conductors, composers, and other musicians, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills.

🎼Maintaining Instruments. Musicians must take care of their instruments, ensuring they are in optimal condition for performance.

🎼Audience Engagement. Performers should be aware of their audience and strive to create an engaging and memorable experience through their performance.

🎼Continuous Learning. They should stay updated on new techniques, repertoire, and trends in classical music, often participating in workshops or masterclasses.

🎼Professionalism. This includes punctuality, dressing appropriately for performances, and maintaining a respectful demeanor towards colleagues and audiences.

🎼Promotion. Some performers may take on the responsibility of promoting their performances, which can include social media engagement and networking within the music community.

These responsibilities are essential not only for personal growth but also for the enrichment of the classical music community as a whole.

On October 1, 1975, the proclaimed the first International Music Day in the hopes that it would become “an annual event for the propagation of greater knowledge of our art, arid for the strengthening of the bonds of peace and friendship between peoples through music.”

For 49 years, we’ve continued this celebration of music around the world, and its calls for knowledge, peace and friendship ring truer than ever. Music connects, builds bridges. It’s a pain reliever. A memory box. A change agent. It expresses and inspires. And those that teach this art form are cherished stewards of culture.

Today, and every day, we honor the music makers and educators whose work connects the world. 🌎 🎶🕊️
