One of my favorite things to hear in the classroom is when students use a similar tone when repeating steps to answer problems in the same way I taught it.
Using verbal ques, sing-song inflection, or specific tones to say important prompts can help students remember key steps in the process to solve a problem.
Similar to how we remember music lyrics or our favorite quotes, we commit these to memory due to tone and rhythm and these same practices can be applied in the classroom.

This week we have continued working in algebra in our Unit 6 work of Equations and Inequalities. This week focused on writing and solving one-step equations. Next week we will continue working in algebra as we focus on writing and solving one-step inequalities. Attached is everything we will cover and topics you can discuss with your student. Please encourage your child to have a positive, growth-oriented attitude towards mathematics and their learning.
• Encourage them to ask questions – both at home and in class. Sometimes, an answer to a question will generate more questions. That’s how you know they are learning!
• Encourage your child to embrace challenges and remind them that every challenge is an opportunity to learn something new.
• Celebrate successes – both small and large.
