About our Program:

GCNS is staffed by a qualified teacher and assistant teachers, with volunteer parent helpers as needed. Our program has been carefully planned and discussed with the staff at Greene Central School to provide for Kindergarten readiness without duplication of experiences. Our classroom consists of large open area and includes gross motor/musical expression area, a game area, a tr

ain table, a sensory table and free art area.. In addition, we also have a dramatic play area where the children can dress up and role-play with child sized kitchen equipment and two teacher tables where daily art projects are offered. Our daily schedule includes art projects, story time, music and dance, finger plays, show and tell with 'circle time', and snack time. Books, puzzles and games are available with individualized attention. Free play includes tabletops filled with small motor activities and toys, and time in the dramatic play and toy areas. Our toy area contains many stimulating toys, as well as our collection of blocks and bricks for constructing. Outside activities include many scheduled walks to observe nature throughout the seasons, collecting objects for art projects, visits to the library, fire department and various local businesses. GCNS as an 'approved' site:

The New York State Department of Education has named GCNS as an approved site, making it possible for children to receive such itinerant services as speech and language therapy, and occupational/physical therapy. Who is eligible? A child must be at least three (3) years of age by December 1st of the school year of entry. Children need not reside in Greene School District. A child must be toilet trained and up to date with all immunizations as required by state laws. Every child will be entitled to all rights, privileges, activities and programs made available to students at GCNS.
