DePauw alumna Elisa Barety '00 is one of ten artists featured in Our Island of Treasures: Puerto Rican Voices from Indiana, curated by Daniel Del Real.

The exhibition brings together members of ¡WEPArt! Colectivo, a group of Puerto Rican artists living throughout Indiana. The collective also participated in the museum’s Barrio Arts Fest earlier this month.

An opening reception will be held Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. CT at the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture in Chicago. The exhibition will remain on view through February 19, 2027.

A historic Indiana art collection has a new home at DePauw.
DePauw University has accepted 16 works from the historic Indianapolis Public Schools art collection through a stewardship initiative led by the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites with Indianapolis Public Schools and the IPS Foundation. The project was supported by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. and brings works once stored from closed IPS schools back into public access.
The artworks are now part of DePauw’s permanent collection and will support teaching, research, exhibitions and public programming. Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites

This summer, the Galleries at Peeler is pleased to present Rick Beardsley ’75: Painting from Ecuador, on view May 26–July 1, 2026, in the Visual Arts Gallery.

In this special alumni exhibition, Rick Beardsley ’75 shares a collection of paintings inspired by his travels and service work alongside DePauw students in the Amazonian region of Ecuador. Reflecting moments of observation, connection, and care, these works capture experiences shaped by service and cultural exchange.

A 1975 DePauw graduate in Biology, Beardsley spent over four decades practicing Family Medicine and Geriatrics before returning to painting. His work offers a thoughtful perspective on the intersections of art, memory, and global engagement.

Join us for a reception with the artist on Saturday, June 6, from 1:30–3 PM EDT at Peeler Art Center. We hope you’ll stop by to experience the exhibition and celebrate this meaningful return to campus.

Happy summer from Peeler Art Center! We wish everyone a wonderful and restful season and would like to share our updated Summer 2026 gallery hours:
Monday–Thursday: 10 AM–4 PM
Friday–Sunday: Closed
Closed for Memorial Day
We will also have special hours during Alumni Weekend on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.

Our featured summer exhibition is Rick Beardsley ’75: Painting from Ecuador (May 26–July 1, 2026), on view in the Visual Arts Gallery. This special alumni exhibition presents a collection of paintings inspired by Rick Beardsley’s travels and service work alongside DePauw students in the Amazonian region of Ecuador. Through these works, Beardsley reflects on moments of observation, connection, and the lasting impact of shared experiences.
