📚✨ Learning the origins of their names while sharing pieces of their own stories!

Students in Mrs. Burkhalter’s room researched the history and meaning behind their names, then connected that learning to their own personal experiences—offering glimpses into their lives, much like Esparza’s story in The House on Mango Street.

A meaningful way to explore identity, culture, and storytelling while discovering what makes each name, and each student, unique. 💜

GHS celebrated eSports students and coaches at the board meeting for their State Championship in 1A competition last Spring. Congratulations to Coach Black, Mr. Combs and students.

Student of the Month for GHS. Korben carries leadership roles in many capacities within the school & community. He initiated the development of the GHS Red Cross club and developed an entire lesson plan for the 2nd grade classes at Deer Meadow by gathering student volunteers for a train the trainer program teaching first aide with 2nd graders and providing a kit for each student. He coordinated the first blood drive held at the school in years. He is heavily involved in our Agriculture program holding a board position at the GHS and taking a step further at the District 3 level where he is VP. We’re proud Korben is a Tiger Cub.

Ivy Tech has created several exciting opportunities for students to explore why Ivy Tech would be a great fit for their future! We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities, explore their options, and discover all that Ivy Tech has to offer. We also encourage parents or guardians to tag along for the experience!

T-shirts for the Cantonwine fundraiser are available to order. Shirts are $15 each and proceeds go to support the Cantonwine family. Orders close on Friday, August 28 at 9AM. You can order shirts through the TCC website: https://ghs-tcc.square.site/cantonwine-fundraiser
Shirts will be available to wear to the soccer and football games on 9/3 and 9/4. 💜

Our Guidance Department works hard throughout the year to schedule a variety of college visits for our students, giving them the opportunity to explore different schools, ask questions, and start thinking about their future after high school. We appreciate all the time and effort they put into creating these opportunities for our students! Below is the list for August/September:
