We are getting HANDS-ON with our phonics! ✏️

Yesterday in first grade, we worked on beginning blends using pipe cleaners! We made the individual sounds b and l, then twisted them together to make the blend bl. We did the same with s + l = sl and many more!

We are learning that when two consonants come together, we can still hear both sounds—they just blend together smoothly!

And, of course, the best part? Our Firsties were encouraged to go home and TEACH someone about their pipe cleaner blend! Because when you can teach it, you really know it!

This small group is putting in the work—solving problems, sharing thinking, asking questions, and learning from one another. We love seeing strong minds at work and students supporting each other along the way!! Keep up the great work, Mrs. Valdez & all of 4th grade 💪🏼🧠

Our September PINK OUT Spirit Day was all about recognizing our incredible Character Kids who show RESPECT each day through their choices, actions, and leadership. We are so proud of the way our students step up and show what it means to be a respectful Springhill StandOUT! 🌟

📣 Cheer Club kicked us off with their student-created and student-led cheers, bringing incredible energy and Panther spirit to the celebration!

🎨 Our Canva Club put their creativity to work by designing a poster for our next character word, RESPONSIBILITY. We love seeing students use their talents to contribute to our school community!

We also had the privilege of recognizing our 2026–2027 Student Ambassadors and Color Guard members. These students are ready to lead, represent Springhill, and make a difference in our school community.

📚🍕 BOOK IT! is back! 📚🍕
We’re excited to kick off a year of reading with the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program! Students will be challenged to read for 20 minutes a day and reach their goal of 15+ days each month. To help keep track, students will receive a monthly reading log to color in as they complete their reading. 🖍️📖 At the end of the month, students who meet their goal can turn in their completed log to Mrs. Hackett and earn their BOOK IT! reward! 🍕⭐

Parents & guardians, be sure to check out the BOOK IT! information flyer for ways you can support your reader at home! Let’s turn “have to read” into “want to read!” ❤️📚🍕
