First grade math was a little competitive today! 🏆➕🔢

Our first graders went head-to-head in a Ten Frame War while strengthening their subitizing skills—which is the ability to quickly recognize how many objects are in a group without having to count each one individually.

Through a little friendly competition, students practiced recognizing quantities, comparing numbers, and building the number sense that lays the foundation for stronger addition and subtraction skills.

Welcome to Ellis Island! 🇺🇸🗽

This week, 3rd graders have been learning about the meaning of the word immigrant, why people came to America, and the process immigrants went through when arriving at Ellis Island.

Today, students got to experience that process by walking through “checkpoints” as they entered the classroom!

This built excitement and anticipation as they begin their new class novel, Orphan of Ellis Island. 📖✨

Third grade students are finding meaningful ways to brag on their classmates for working hard, rising to a challenge, and demonstrating PRIDE! ⭐

Each student chooses a classmate they want to recognize and shares a specific action, accomplishment, or moment that made them proud.

The best part? Hearing students share their shout-outs at the end of class! 🌟
