The GMS Varsity Volleyball team got 3rd this weekend at the Creekwood Middle School Tournament. Way to go girls!!

The GMS Cross Country Team got off to a HOT start on Saturday at the MSCCA Take the Leap Invitational at Sanders Ferry Park. Even through the early morning heat, these runners persevered. We are proud of many of our runners who completed their first meet. We are so thankful everyone finished safely under the grueling conditions!

Special recognition to 8th Grader, Jackson Murray who finished in 17th place out of over 200 boys!

How will I receive communication from GMS throughout the school year?
ParentSquare - Robertson County Schools and GMS will be using ParentSquare to communicate with parents. This will come to your email and phone as it did last year, but you can also download an app to make communication easier. The ParentSquare app will have a continuous feed that is similar to Facebook to make it easier to find past messages and communication.
GMS Family Email - This is a weekly email that will be sent through ParentSquare. The information from this email is also posted on Facebook.

The 26-27 Robertson County Schools Attendance Procedures are attached. Please notice that students are only allowed 3 parent notes per semester. Any absences over that will require a doctor's note to be excused.

The GMS Grading Policy is attached. Please notice a student only has 2 weeks to make up zeros or missing work. After the 2 weeks, it will remain a zero.

How can I work with other parents to support teachers?
We have a couple of parents that are interested in developing a group of parents/community members to support GMS teachers. This will not be a PTO organization but more of a smaller scale. This group will surprise teachers for their birthdays, celebrate teacher successes, assist with bulletin boards, assist with classroom preparation, etc. If you are interested in partnering with other parents to support GMS teachers, please email [email protected].

GENERAL CAR RIDER INFO: The car rider line should be accessed through the back gate, closest to the new auditorium and proceeds along the side of the gym. THE ROAD THAT CONNECTS THE HIGH SCHOOL TO GMS IS CLOSED TO ALL DRIVERS, as that road is a BUS LANE ONLY.

MORNING CAR RIDER INFO: Make sure students DO NOT EXIT their vehicle until the “THUMBS UP” signal is given in groups. The first group unloading will begin at 7:25, as that is when GMS doors open & adult car rider attendants will begin the unloading process.

The first group will be dismissed together by the front-line adult, and the next groups will pull up and proceed the same way until 7:50, which is when the side entrance door will be locked. (Any student arriving after 7:50 must enter thru the front door.)

AFTERNOON CAR RIDER INFO: Students should remain on the sidewalk until the “LOAD UP” request is made for the current group. Adult attendants will go to each car to check to make sure all students are loaded. If the driver has their student, drivers should respond to the attendant with a “THUMBS UP” signal. If the driver does not have their student, the driver should respond with a “THUMBS DOWN” signal and let the attendant know who the student is, so that the attendant can look for them along the sidewalk. If the student does not respond after the attendant calls the student’s name 3 times, the driver will be asked to proceed with the exiting group of cars and will need to come back through the line a second time.

Also, drivers SHOULD NOT change lanes, even after passing through all traffic cones. DRIVERS SHOULD STAY COMMITTED TO THE LANE THAT THEY CHOSE. THE RIGHT LANE ONLY TURNS RIGHT. THE LEFT LANE ONLY TURNS LEFT. THE MIDDLE LANE TURNS BOTH WAYS.

Please be patient with this process as our new families are learning the procedures.
