1. The Greenback School athletic department has created a digital newsletter/calendar for parents and other community members to follow. The newsletter contains information about Greenback athletic events, including game dates, times, and locations. You can view this newsletter by following Greenback Athletics on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
2. Registration packets for our after-school LAUNCH program should be coming home with your child today and tomorrow, so please check their backpacks. If interested in enrolling your child in LAUNCH, complete the paperwork and return it to the school by next Monday, August 31. LAUNCH begins on Tuesday, September 1. Student cannot participate in LAUNCH without the necessary paperwork.
3. A representative from the Boy Scouts will hold a parent meeting this Thursday at 6:30 PM for families who would like to learn more about participating in the boy scouts. The representative will visit our school this Wednesday to talk with students about the program. Thursday’s meeting will be in the Assembly Room (enter through the cafeteria).
4. The Greenback School Parent Association is looking for parents who would like to be involved in planning and helping with school events. If you are interested in joining the school’s parent association, contact Misty Blair at [email protected].
5. This year’s One Book Blitz is coming soon! This year’s book title will be released next Friday, September 4, and all materials will be sent home with students that same day. Materials will include each student’s personal copy of the chosen book, the reading calendar, and the scavenger hunt form.
6. Monday, September 7 is Labor Day. There is no school on this day. School will resume on Tuesday, September 8.
7. This a reminder for parents and other family members coming to eat lunch with your child: Food that you bring in for your child should not be shared with other students in the event of a food allergy or a dietary need.
8. We still have some Greenback T-shirts for sale in our main office. For those who would like to place an order for additional T-shirts and/or hoodies with the same logo, an order form will go with all elementary students this week. We were unable to get the order process prepared last week. We are encouraging all elementary students to wear Greenback gear at this year’s September Stomp!
9. We have started a middle school soccer program at GBS this school year, and the coaches are looking for more players! The middle school girls’ soccer season is this fall, and the boys’ season is in the spring. However, both boys and girls are invited to attend practices every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 PM on Cooper Field. No previous experience is required to play.
