The Chamber is deeply saddened by the passing of John Logsdon, owner of Dockside Grille and a valued member of our Green Area Chamber community.

His kindness, generosity, and willingness to give back touched the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, and Chamber members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to John’s family, friends, the Dockside Grille team, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the passing of one or our owners, husband, father, friend, and biggest believer, John Logsdon.
Dockside was John’s dream. More than creating a restaurant, he wanted to create a place where everyone felt welcome—a place where great food, genuine hospitality, and the beauty of Portage Lakes brought people together.
John loved walking through the dining room, visiting with guests, shaking hands, sharing stories, and cheering on our team. He believed that every guest should leave feeling like family, and he inspired all of us to create those moments every single day.
While our hearts are broken, we know there is no better way to honor John than to continue building the dream he poured so much of himself into. His spirit, his kindness, and his unwavering belief in this team will continue to guide us.
As John’s family and the entire Dockside team navigate this unimaginable loss, we are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support from our community.
Thank you for keeping John’s family, his partner Steve, our team, and everyone who loved him in your thoughts. We look forward to welcoming you with the same warmth and hospitality that meant so much to John.
We’ll keep building the dream. For John. 💙
