🎨✨ Dot, Dot, Create! ✨🎨

Today our little learners explored dots, colors, glue, and their imaginations! And while it may look like a simple art activity, there is SO much development happening behind those tiny dots. 🥰

When our preschoolers pick up small pieces, squeeze glue, use their dot markers, and carefully place objects onto their paper, they are strengthening those fine motor skills that are so important for kindergarten and beyond! ✏️🖍️✂️

They are practicing:
🔹 Hand and finger strength
🔹 Hand-eye coordination
🔹 Pincher grasp and control
🔹 Using glue with purpose
🔹 Picking up and placing small objects
🔹 Concentration and patience
🔹 Following their own ideas and plans

But my favorite part? We let their imaginations take over! 💭🎨

A bunch of little dots can become a picture, a pattern, a face, a creature, or something completely unexpected. There isn’t always a “right” way to make art. Sometimes the best learning happens when we simply give children the materials and say, “Show me what you can create!” ❤️

Those little fingers are getting stronger, those brains are making connections, and those imaginations are growing every time they create.

It’s not just dots on paper. It’s kindergarten readiness disguised as FUN! 🥰🖌️✨

Science in Preschool!

Science is SO important in the preschool classroom because it gives children the chance to wonder, predict, experiment, and discover! Wednesday our Dinos had so much fun with our Walking Water experiment that they asked me to do it again… four times!

And then Thursday morning, before we had even started circle time, they were already asking, “Mrs. Jaqui, can we do the science experiment again?!” Which we did!

They loved watching the colors travel and mix, guessing what would happen when we put blue with yellow, green with blue, and all the different combinations together. They made predictions, shared their ideas, watched closely, and celebrated when their predictions came true!

Sometimes preschool science is just a few cups, some paper towels, food coloring, and a whole LOT of curiosity.

Learning is so much more fun when you get to get your hands involved!

Finger painting in the Lions Room!

Finger painting may look messy, but it is an important learning experience for young children. As children squish, spread, and mix the paint, they strengthen their fingers and hands, practice hand-eye coordination, and explore different textures and colors.

They are also learning about cause and effect—what happens when they move their fingers in different ways or mix colors together. These early skills help prepare children for everyday tasks such as holding a pencil, using scissors, fastening buttons, and feeding themselves.

Messy hands, busy brains, and lots of learning!

Story Time Is More Than Story Time!

When we gather to read, our children are building vocabulary, strengthening listening skills, growing their attention spans, developing imagination and critical thinking, and learning about emotions and relationships.

Every question, new word, and conversation helps build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Those little moments with a book are doing BIG things for little minds! ❤️
