Day 2 of Professional Development was one our staff won’t soon forget.

Today, we had the honor of welcoming Congressman Steve Womack as our special guest speaker. He shared the inspiring story of Green Forest graduate and Navy SEAL Tommy Ratzlaff (Class of 1995), reminding us that you don’t have to come from a big city or a large school to make a big impact.

His message was simple but powerful: small rural schools like Green Forest help shape students who go on to become leaders, heroes, and make a difference in the world. As educators, we have the privilege and responsibility of helping inspire the next generation every single day.

Tomorrow, August 6, marks the anniversary of the loss of the 31 heroes aboard Extortion 17—30 American service members and one military working dog who gave their lives in Afghanistan in 2011. As we remember their courage and sacrifice, we are especially proud to honor one of our own, Tommy Ratzlaff, whose legacy of service continues to inspire our community.

Thank you, Congressman Womack, for taking the time to encourage our staff as we begin another school year. We look forward to seeing what this year’s Tigers will accomplish.

Green Forest Virtual Academy

The Green Forest School District is excited to offer new opportunities for flexible learning through the Green Forest Virtual Academy.
This program allows approved students to complete their coursework from home while remaining enrolled in and supported by the Green Forest School District. We have provided below an informational letter with contact information as well as virtual academy expectations. The district will also provide students with a Chromebook to complete their coursework.

What a great way to kick off the new school year! ❤️🤍

We enjoyed a day filled with great food, laughter, and reconnecting, made even better by the generosity of our local businesses who provided meals and door prizes.

We were having so much fun we forgot to take many photos, but we’re sharing a few we captured!

Thank you to our amazing community and business partners for your continued support of Green Forest Schools. We’re grateful and excited for another great year—here’s to 2026–2027!

Congrats to these GF graduates.

We are so proud of brothers, Daniel and Alex Alvarez!!

Daniel is a 2022 graduate of C4 and Green Forest High School. He went on to graduate from Arkansas Elite Welding Academy, LLC and went out on the road.

Alex is a 2024 graduate of C4 and Green Forest High School. He followed in his brothers footsteps by graduating from Arkansas Elite Welding Academy, LLC and going out on the road.

Both brothers are back in Carroll County and have started their own businesses. You can find their business pages on Facebook and learn more about what they are doing. They are great young men and aren't afraid of any challenge. They are two of our favorites so don't hesitate to contact them.

Green Forest Elementary School has a new piece of inclusive playground equipment!

What is inclusive playground equipment? It is equipment that can be accessed by anyone including, those in wheelchairs and with mobility issues. It has a ramp instead of stairs that all students can access and play with their peers.

This is a joint project between the City of Green Forest and the Green Forest School District. People in the community will have access to this equipment while school is not in session. The majority of this project was paid for through grants and donations. A special thanks to all of the generous donors that helped to make this project possible >>
