👀 This past weekend, we held our "Persistent Pain" course. The course was led by Drs. Marcos Lopez and Travis Gunderson. The pictures show some of what the learners practiced - elements of graded motor imagery, pain pressure threshold testing, and a ton of communication skills.
Here are specific things we practiced during this in-person weekend course:
🔵 Responding to yellow flags (what do you say when someone is fearful/has strong pain beliefs?)
🔵 Using behavior change strategies to guide communication/treatment approach
🔵 Practicing motivational interviewing communication strategies
🔵 Getting reps using pain science education (metaphors to make sense of pain)
🔵 Assessing pain pressure threshold and two-point discrimination
🔵 Actually applying graded motor imagery
🔵 How to implement graded activity/exposure (exposure w/ control
🔵 Tons of case-based scenarios and clinical reasoning discussion
The goal 🟰 reps, on reps, on reps with feedback from peers and instructors.
