Position Title: Center Assistant Director
Reports To: Center Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary Helps lead the Center to ensure the mission, strategy, values, and goals of the Center are successfully achieved. Assists the Director in ensuring the Center is providing the best possible care for children, following all state regulations, and well as providing the best possible working environment for employees.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Responsibility
Processing payroll, pay bills, maintain expenses and ledgers, reconcile bank accounts, enter checks, ensure weekly deposits, and email weekly statements
Gather and provide yearly tax information to accountant for filing taxes
Patriciate in the Fundraising Committee to ensure the Center has fundraising money available for needed expenses.
Excellent Time Management and Organization skills:
Post all open job positions and assist in the hiring process of all teachers
Onboard new employees
Track daily attendance for all staff and children
Assist with creating and implementing policy and procedures for the center
Staff Files
Child Files
Excellent Communication skills:
Maintain professional conduct at all times among children, staff, and parents
Maintain open communication with staff at all times
Use effective communication with families, children, and staff
Ability to handle difficult conversations with staff, children, and families
Staffing Management:
Help plan, organize, and implement monthly staff meetings; ensure proper training programs are offered at these meetings if needed.
Support all teachers in their classroom
Fill in for teachers when needed and/or absent
Ensure all staff are upholding job expectations
Assist in disciplinary processes if needed
Classroom Management:
Enforce established curriculum layout and work with teachers to learn and implement said curriculum
Assist with staff observations and provide feedback and reviews
Understand Youngstar and assist in implementation of the program
Have knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding safety requirements and inspection and certification procedures, and ensure that the center complies with those requirements
Covid-19
Have knowledge of Covid-19 procedures.
Assist with enforcement of all Covid-19 quarantines (this can include phone calls, emails, and may include nights and weekends)
Assist with following the proper steps of documentation and reporting to the proper channels
Assist the Director in any daily tasks as needed
The Assistant Director will also be responsible for helping the Director with miscellaneous building maintenance. Working closely the with the Board of Directors and Staff/committee members at Peaceful Lutheran Church.
The Assistant Director is also required to attend monthly Board of Director meetings and work with different sub-committees to help run the Center as needed

Education/Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in an applicable field (e.g. child development) or 7-10 years’ work experience in lieu of degree.
Child Care Administrator Credential
Certificate from The Registry indicating a level 12 or above
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a childcare center

Must have the ability to communicate with parents and staff.

Must be able to work in a team setting with willingness to collaborate with peers, parents and children.

Must be able to create and implement lesson plans that correspond with state regulations and youngstar standards.

Willingness to assist with cleaning, care and other duties as assigned.

Willingness to learn and further your education with staff meetings and trainings.
